    43 years and counting

Bill and I have been married 43 years today. I remember it was just as hot that day as it will be today. In fact it was so hot that our wedding cake started to melt and lean. We were afraid it was going to tip over so we had to hurry up and eat then cut the cake. We had the best reception though and was so much fun. The band was great and you all know how much I love to dance. Back then the bride and groom always left before their guests did to start their honeymoon and I hated to leave because I was having so much fun. Now days the happy couple stay for the entire time. We didn’t go on a honeymoon right away though, it was two weeks later. Guess where we went. We went up north fishing and I had never fished a day in my life before that. The resort was very nice though and the owners were great people. Not only that we went with another couple who I had never met before our wedding day lol. They were older and probably had been married at least 10 years by then. We had fun though and they were easy to talk to and and fun people. We shared a cabin and thank God she did all the cooking. It didn’t allow us much privacy though so one day while they were out fishing we snuck back in the cabin and locked the door. Well wouldn’t you know it they came back early. When they found the door locked they left and went to the little bar the resort had. Of course they knew why it was locked but I was embarrassed when we met up with them later. It is fun to think back and fondly remember times like that.

I’m not sure if we will do anything today or not. Maybe we’ll go out for dinner. I thought William would still be here but a friend of his called yesterday and wanted to hang out so I took him home yesterday afternoon. I was teasing him that since he’d been here so long that I was going to go to court to get custody and make his mom and dad pay me child support lol.

Well take care you guys and keep cool. It’s going to be another cooker today.

    Birthday shopping with Bri

Bri and I had a great time shopping together Monday. She’s getting at the age where she has a hard time deciding what she wants. She has enough dolls she said and didn’t really want another one. We wondered around the store when she saw a purse she just loved. Her favorite color is pink and this was was all pink and covered in sequins so in the cart it went. It was only $5.00 so I told her she could keep looking to see if something else caught her eye. She spotted this thing that beauty shops have to dispense hair color. It has red, blue, yellow and pink bottles and she’s a true diva at heart and loves to do different things with her hair so she decided she would get that. Later that night she was playing with it and did her hair with mom’s help. Isn’t she cute? I told her to do her dad’s hair too lol.

     DSCF4504 DSCF4505 DSCF4506

After a hard day of shopping we went for ice cream. She had a shake and I had a banana split and boy did it taste good too! We had fun her and I and I treasure each and every minute I spend with my babies. I’m a lucky grandma!

Speaking of grandkids, I think William is moving in with us lol. He’s been here almost two weeks now and doesn’t want to go home. He’ll have to go home pretty soon though, at least for a day. He has an appointment to have his senior pictures taken. I can’t believe he is going to be a senior in high school already, where has the time gone! What do you buy kids now days for a graduation gift? Probably money huh. Years ago people bought their kids suitcases. Do you think that was some kind of hint or something lol.

My daughter and her family are leaving in the morning for their vacation. They are headed to Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. I know they will have a great time. I wonder how Brody will do having to spend so much time in the car. He’s such a good baby though and hardly anything bothers him so he might do ok. All I know is I want them to have a fantastic time and come home safe.

It’s been really hot here and today is no different so I’m staying inside. I hope it’s nice for all of you but if it’s hot be careful and drink lots of water. Check on your neighbors too don’t forget. Yesterday our neighbor was mowing his lawn in this heat so I kept watching to make sure he was ok. Things can happen so fast in these temperatures.

    Have a great day ya’ll!

    June 22

    Shop till ya drop.

To my daughter Deanna and her hubby Jon. They’ve been married for 12 years I think lol. I’m pretty sure that’s what it is. I also want to wish my Sister and her hubby Jack and their son and daughter-in-law a very very Happy Anniversary. Today is both of their anniversaries. They all got married on the same day lol. Lots of June weddings. I love you guys!!!

Bri and I are going birthday shopping today then out for ice cream. She called last night to make sure and find out what time we are going lol. the kids sure like doing that and so do I. I always ask them where they want to go and of course they always say Toys’R’Us. Where else would a 8 year old want to go right? I’ll be picking her up about 1 this afternoon and I hope it won’t be too hot. The AC doesn’t work all that great in my car anymore, the poor old thing. It is a 92 but it still runs great but the AC is tired.

Well I better go get my face on and get ready to pick up my peanut for our girls day of shopping. I will try to get around to visit today. William is here again so I’m pretty sure he’ll be on here by the time I get home but I will try. It seems I’ve been a slacker about that and feel bad about it. I hope you all don’t forget me hehe. Take care and have a great day and a wonderful week.

    Hugs to all!

    Wishing all Dad’s a Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to all you great Dad’s out there!!!

    scan0001

This is a picture Bill took of Dad and I one year we took him with us to Wisconsin Dells. He sure enjoyed that trip and talked about it for days. , It was the first time he actually got to see the Dells in all it’s glory. After mom died and whenever Bill and I went somewhere I always asked Dad if he wanted to go along and most times he did. We went almost everywhere together then, even to the grocery store lol. He was the best dad in the world and was my Hero! Here’s a poem some of you might remember as I’ve posted it before but it was written by my neighbor and good friend when Dad passed. It follows the one he wrote for my mom when she passed.

God Looked out upon His garden

And thought “This Rose shouldn’t be alone.”

So He reached out in all His compassion

And drew another Rose to His eternal home.

He put the Roses side by side

And showered them with His love

Where they will always be together

    In those Heavenly mansions above.

Most assuredly they will be sadly missed.

    By those they left behind.

Saddened hears will remember the memories

When these two Roses are brought to mind.

God looked out upon His garden

And saw things as they should be

He looked upon the two Roses

And said “My Garden Is Now Complete.”

Together forever they will always be

In the realm of Heaven above

And when God looks on his beautiful garden

The two Roses will be showered with love.

We will meet them again on that golden shore

If there was one thing we could ask them to do

Is to tread slowly down that long long path

For one day we will follow you.

Yesterday we went to our son’s to celebrate Father’s day and Brianna’s 8th birthday. It was a perfect day and we all had a great time. Jesse took Eric shopping to by his sister and gift and he was so cute about it. Jesse said they wee at the store and he was looking at something and Eric walked over to the jewelry counter. He motions for his dad to come over and said he found the perfect gift. He picked out the most adorable little heart necklace for her with peridot gems all around it. It is a beautiful necklace, one I wouldn’t mind having myself. They are the cutest kids and are so kind and considerate of each other. If one of them is going somewhere they always give each other hugs good-bye before they leave. So cute. Anyway here’s the birthday girl herself in all her diva-ness lol. Oh the glasses she has on are another gift Eric bought for her.

    Fast cars

I’ve often wondered why they make vehicles that go over 100 miles per hour. There are only a few places around the country where you don’t see speed limits but not many. I have never seen a speed limit over 80 anywhere so why do they make cars that can reach 160? I guess it’s just because they can but why. The only vehicles that really needs to go that fast are fire trucks, ambulance’s and police cars and race cars too in my opinion. If that were the case it would sure cut down on high speed chases if the bad guy knew that he can’t out run the cops. And why in the world would anyone want to go that fast on a motorcycle? Especially a motorcycle. That’s just crazy if you ask me. Now I know the men are probably going to say something about this but I can’t think of any good reason for cars and motorcycle’s to be able to go that fast. I know even if they didn’t people would soup up their cars anyway but even as silly as it is I have thought about this over the years lol.

It’s a pretty morning here but they say more rain is on the way for late this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. Just what we need right?  The weekend is suppose to be nice though so that’s a good thing.

William decided to go home last night. He was going to stay until Sunday but a friend of he’s called to invite him to his birthday party so he called his dad to come and get him. I guess hanging out with friends at a party is more fun then hanging out with a couple of old people lol. I’m just happy that he likes to come here at his age. While he was here I got behind on checking in with you so that’s my plan for today. So I will see you soon. Until then have a fabulous day!

    June 16

    I’m a soft touch.

William called last night and asked if he could come down. You know I said yes but I told him he couldn’t download anything on the computer. It has to be something he downloaded that cause my computer problems because it turns out they are having the same issues with theirs. I think I know what it was but I’m not taking any chances and letting him download anything. It’s so hard to tell kids no sometimes isn’t it but he understands. Having a computer that’s working properly is better then not and he agrees. There’s plenty of other things he can do on here that are safe and I don’t have a problem with that. I think I will taking him shopping today so he can get his dad a Father’s Day gift as long as he’s here.

I decided to trim our hedges yesterday. Boy, what was I thinking? My arms and back ached like crazy by the time I got done and I still could reach it all so Bill had to finish it for me. And I was so tired after. Those trimmers get heavy after awhile. At least that’s another thing I can check off the to do list. There’s plenty of other things on that list still but I’ll do it in small doses lol.

Bri’s birthday party is Saturday and I’m looking forward to that. I bought her savings bond a couple of weeks ago so they should have that by now or will soon. Do you know it takes 17 years before they start drawing interest? I thought it was 7. Oh well, hopefully they won’t have to cash them in until they reach retirement age. As long as we are going to be together for her birthday we will celebrate Father’s Day after her party. I will probably go back and pick her up on Sunday to take her birthday shopping. The kids love doing that. I’ve even asked them if they would prefer I just buy them something so they can open their gift at their party but they all say no. They want to go shopping with grandma then out for ice cream after. Needless to say grandma loves it too and really enjoy my one on one time with them.

Most years we all get together with my sister’s and their families to do dad’s day but Terry and Jack are going to Milwaukee to the races this weekend along with some of her kids. I’m sure there will be another party for those dad’s next weekend or so. This is Trent’s first Father’s Day so I bet he’s looking forward to that. Since our sons are married to sister’s it was always easier to get together every year and celebrate. Their dad always came too but he will be at Bri’s party too so I doubt he would come to the other one. We all will though lol. Can’t stand someone having a party and not being there too ya know. I think there’s a law about that somewhere in the law books lol.

Looks like we are going to get some more rain. Everyone is out mowing their lawns before it gets here including Bill. Another neighbor is having a tree cut down too and the noise from the chainsaw is getting annoying. I hope they’re done soon, they been working on it for 3 days now. We have another neighbor who’s wife races stock cars and he loves to rev up the motor and burn rubber and fly up the street when he’s working on it. He lives on the street behind us but we can see his house from our backyard. I sure wouldn’t want him ripping up our road like he does theirs, especially when we have the kids here.

Well, that’s it that’s all for now I guess. There was another thing I was going to talk about but this is getting pretty long as it is so I will save it for another day. I hope it’s sunny and pleasant where you are. Have a fabulous day kids and take care!

    Ring a dingy dingy

It was about 9:00 last night and I was sitting here minding my own business playing a game on the computer when my phone rings. It’s my sister’s calling me to come over. You see I had to get on them about that. Since they literally live next door and across the street from each other they would often sit outside and visit. Since I live two streets away from them I of course didn’t know they were together  so I would miss out on all the fun. I would hear about it the next day and so I would accuse them of doing it on purpose and not wanting me to play with them lol. So I told them to call me when they are hanging out. Of course when they called I hopped in my car and scurried right over. I only stayed about an hour or so but it’s nice to just sit around and gab. I would have walked over but it was dark and I’m a little nervous about walking alone at night even in our little 5 street subdivision.

It’s a pretty day today and too nice to stay inside so I think I’ll grab my book, my radio, my soda and go sit on the deck and read awhile and then maybe take a walk. Might even have another impromptu visit with the girls. First I must take something out for supper though. I’m thinking something to grill. We had chicken on the grill yesterday so I don’t want that again so it will probably be burgers or brats. What’s on your menu for today? I could always use a good idea for something different.

I might even walk to your house later. If you’re not at home I’ll leave a message on your door hehe. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! Hugs!

    June 13

    Helllooooo

and back in business (I hope). Bill picked the computer up last night and I hurried and hooked it up and started putting things back that I could remember I had before. One of the first things I downloaded was Bill’s poker site. Everything opens now and the adobe reader and flash player is working great. I’m a happy girl again. I know I have a lot of catching up to do with all of you and I plan to do that over the weekend as much as I can. I would have last night but my Brody was here while his dad and brother and sister went to the stock car races and of course I’d rather play with him, I’m sure you understand lol. I still have some things to put back on here but I was sure glad she was able to save my pictures. I lost all my music I had on here but that’s no problem. I only put songs on here off of CD’s I have and never download them off the web so I can always put those back. The computer does seem to be a lot faster then it was even when it was new so that’s a good thing.

Have you heard that MRSA staph infection is on the rise? It is here anyway. My sister Rhonda and her husband both have it and it was in our local paper that they are finding more and more people with it. Needless to say they are on antibiotics. That is one infection though that a lot of antibiotics doesn’t work and I read that it keep adapting and researchers are having a hard time keeping up with it. It’s highly contagious so they have to be real careful and do their best to keep from spreading it. I was just over to their house the other day and you can get just by touching something they touched from what I read. I sure hope I don’t get it. I’m one of the lucky people who has never had a boil or cold sore or anything like that so I hope I stay lucky (knocking on wood).

Well Jodi called and said her grandson Ryker is over at her house so I’m going to go see him and give him aunt Sherry kisses. I guess that means I’ll be around later to see all of you. Until then have a great Saturday, I hope you’re out doing something fun.

    Hugs…

    I am NOT happy

I took my computer in yesterday to be fixed and she just called me a few minute ago to say that they don’t know what’s wrong with it so they have to wipe it out and reformat it. I was so hoping they wouldn’t have to do that. She is going to save my pictures I recently put on that I hadn’t gotten around to saving yet, that’ll teach me right! I really think that some site William goes to when he’s here is causing the problems, so that’s going to stop. He won’t be  happy about that but what else can I do. It does seem every time he comes the computer starts acting up. What I might do is get a wireless connection and let him use this old slow computer that I’m using now instead of out “good” one. If it will be any good now that is. This one I’m using now is so slow that it drives me right up the wall and that’s why I haven’t been around to visit the last couple of days. It takes so long for a page to open and freezes up a lot too. I know he won’t like it but what else can I do, I can’t keep taking computers in to be fixed all the time either.

Not much else going on around here. Yesterday morning we met some friends for breakfast which was nice. One of the couples left today for an Alaskan cruise. How jealous am I about that!!! The green monster always flares up when I hear someone is going somewhere without me lol. There should be a law about that! Speaking of which…My daughter and her family are going to Colorado to visit Jon’s sister in a couple of weeks “without me”! Now how rude is that? She did say she would love for me to go with them but there’s no room in the car for me and besides this will be their very first time that they have been able to do anything as a family since they’ve been married. Every other time they went anywhere his parents went with them and then after his dad died his mom lived with them and they couldn’t go anywhere. A few times they did take the kids to Wisconsin Dells for a weekend but no big family vacation. So as much as I would love to go with them I feel it would be good for just the five of them to go. I did suggest that since they are that far out west they should take the kids to Wyoming and show them where they got married. I told her yesterday that it would be cool if they could get a family picture taken in the very same spot. How cool would that be. They got married on a mountain top in Snowy Pass there in Wyoming. Then I suggested that when they head back home they should come by way of South Dakota. There they can go to Deadwood. Jon will love Deadwood as it’s a big Casino town now days. Then they can go to Rapid City and take the kids to see Mt. Rushmore, Bear Country, Custer State Park where the buffalo’s roam, to Mt. Crazy Horse and the Black Hills and the Bad Lands. Then from there they can stop at Wall Drug on the way home. Oh, before they leave Wyoming they can go to Devils Tower it’s only 80 miles from Deadwood and it’s an amazing sight to behold. I better shut-up about that now before I talk myself into going with them anyway as I’d love to go back there again. I really do love Rapid City and all you can do and see there. There are also several caves you can visit and even to through gold mines and pan for gold yourself and visit Ghost towns. South Dakota does have a lot to offer you once you get passed Wall Drug. Closer to Minnesota you can always stop in Mitchell and see the Corn Palace too while you’re at it lol. So I have their itinerary all planed out for them. See what a nice mom I am lol.

Well, I hope you are all behaving since I haven’t had much luck getting around to check on you. Hopefully it won’t be long before I get my other computer back. She did say it could be ready this afternoon but most likely it will be tomorrow :(. So until then be good kids now ya hear!

    PC issues and vacation plans

It was a pretty good weekend for the most part. We didn't do much be at least the rain held off until last night. I did some more scrapping but realized when I was putting those that I've finished in the album that I need to print out some more pictures. I'm working on Christmas photos and there are some that I want to make sure I include in the album that I didn't print the first time.

I think I'm going to take my pc in and have it checked out. I'm finding more and more things that aren't working like they should and I have no clue as to why. Some of my programs like live write won't open and I downloaded firefox but that didn't open either so I removed it. Bill bought himself a GPS and a cd software comes with it so that you can update it with new maps that come out but now that won't open either. I'm writing everything I find that's not working so when I take it in I can give them the list and fix it for me. I know my Java isn't working right even though I have the latest one but when I run a test on it it doesn't show that it's working. I tried to uninstall it but that didn't work either. I've read the instructions on their site but it makes no sense to me at all and I don't want to make things worse. I plan on calling someone today. I am NOT taking it back to the last place because it took weeks for them to even look at it. Thank God I have another one my sone fixed for me for a back up. I haven't asked him about this one, maybe I should huh.

Bill and I were talking about going somewhere hopefully this summer. I think I want to go back to Mall of America. We went there years ago but missed a lot of the things they have there, like the amusement park and the aquarium. How that happend is a mystery so I want to go back and see those things. I don't know when we'll go but it can't be soon enough for me. I'm getting pretty tired of being stuck at home.

Well I have to get in the shower and diva up for the day. I'll be around to visit more of you when I'm decent lol. Wishing you all a great day where ever you are!

    June 05

    Oh what a beautiful morning!

    gif

    Thanks Noelle!

Today is going to be absolutely gorgeous! A high of 79 and just perfect. Not to last though, rain is coming later tonight and it's suppose to rain all day tomorrow and the temp will drop 20 degrees down to 61. Rain is predicited for the whole weekend as well. So for those of you east of here get ready, it's heading your way. Since it's going to be so nasty the next few days I think it will be a good time to get more scrapping done don't you?

I'm not sure what i'm going to do today. Spending as much time outside before the rain comes is one thing I know I'l do.

I applied for new health insurance yesterday and it's a whole lot cheaper then what I'm paying now by $120.00 and a lower deductible and better coverage. I'm happy about that and so is Bill. It would have been even cheaper if I was on Medicare but I'm still too young for that hehehe. I will find out in about a week if I'm accepted. Keep your fingers crossed for me please. I should be as I don't have anything wrong with me other then a underactive thyroid. I don't even take blood pressure meds and I think that's pretty good for my age don't you?

Well the days a wasting and I don't want to miss it. I'll be around to see some of you before I boogie outside though.

    Have a good day and

    Talent show

My grandson Josh is in a talent show at school tomorrow and I'm so excited. He was beside himself when he found out he was in it. He'll be playing his guitar and you know I'll be there with camera in hand. He's only been taking lessons for a few months but his teacher is pretty impressed with him. He calls him his protege and is quite amazed at how fast he's picked it up. He can listen to a song and turn around and play it. I guess he just has an ear for music. He plays the trombone too but is giving that up to his music teacher that he has at school dismay. She called my daughter the other day and wanted her to convince Josh to stay in band because he's the best trombone player she has. He doesn't want to though, his heart is with the guitar and he doesn't enjoy the trombone as much. It's not a contest so he won't be winning anything in the talent show other then cheers from the crowd. All of my kids are going too so he'll have a lot of family there cheering him on. I'm so proud of him and I can't wait. It's at one o'clock tomorrow so if you hear thunderous applause around then it will be us lol.

I did some scrap booking the other night. It's been quite awhile since I've done any, just wasn't in the mood I guess. I started probably around 6 or so and before you know it it was after midnight. I got 3 pages done and another almost done. I'm still working on Christmas pages but am happy with they way they are turning out. When I'm done with Christmas I want to start on our vacation pictures I think. I have so many though from over the years and it's hard to know where to start. Our first big family vacation was when we went to Wyoming years ago to Yellowstone. From there we headed to South Dakota to Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. We stopped at several places along the way to and back and loved it. So I have a lot of pic I should do but there's soooo many of them lol. We've taken the kids to quite a few places when they were young and it's so much fun looking at those pictures again. I think their favorite trip was when we went to Opryland. Along the way there we stopped and went through Mammoth Caves and they loved that. It was interesting though. While in the cave they turned the lights out and do you know you can not see your hand in front of your face at all. It is pitch, and I mean pitch black. I have never experienced such darkness like that before. My favorite part of that vacation was going to Graceland. Just seeing where Elvis lived, loved and died was something I'll never forget. Of all the trips we've taken I would love to go to them all again. Except maybe for Branson Mo. I just didn't care for that. I loved the country side and the Ozarks but as far as Branson itself I wasn't real impressed with it. But I'm glad I went. Anyway, where do I start scrapping these photos? Decisions decisions.

It's chilly and rainy here today and I'm back to wearing sweatshirts again lol. Will this weather ever straighen up? I'm even tempted to turn the furnace back on. I won't but I'm tempted. Another thing I'm not too happy about is I got a letter from my health ins. co. saying they are raising my premiun up 50.00 Baring teeth. I have an appointment Thursday to talk to someone from another company. I'm not going to pay over $300.00 a month if I can help it believe you me. So I'm hoping this new company will be cheaper...a lot cheaper. You can't win though, they start out cheap but within a few months they send you a nice little letter informing you of an increase. Oh, they always have the same reasons don't they. I've had one claim with them since I had them and now they do this so to heck with them. If there's one thing I'm not loyal too it's insurance companies.

Well I hope it's sunny and warm where you are since it isn't here for us. Maybe tomorrow will be better..I hope. You all take care now and have an awesome day!

    Hugs
