    Birthday and Tooth Fairy

    Girly Comments & Graphics

    Happy Birthday Bri!!!

    Today is Briann'a birthday She's 7 today.

She turned 7 and lost a tooth all in the same week lol.tooth They are up north on vacation this week and she was worried that the tooth fairy wouldn't know where she is and not be able to find her. That tooth fairy is a pretty smart girl and she knows everything so she found Bri with no problem.I'm surprised that she hasn't lost a tooth until now as most kids start losing them around the age of 4 or 5. Maybe that's a good thing though, I've heard the longer you keep your baby teeth they better it is. Jesse has his lap top with him so he was able to send me this picture. We were suppose to be there with them but since we can't it is nice that he can send me pictures of the things they are doing and all the fun they are having. I hope he will be able to send me a picture of a big ole musky they catch lol. The kids love to fish and from what Jesse said Bri is having the most luck.

He called me last night to see if I got the picture as he wasn't sure how good the signal was there, but it came through just fine. They really like the resort they are staying at. We've never been to this one before and from what he said it's great The cabins are nice and clean and the people are friendly and helpful and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. I told him if they make reservations for next year to put us down too. Next summer HAS to be better then this year...right?

William called yesterday and wanted to come down and stay for a couple nights, so he's here but sleeping right now. I think it's mostly because his dad is off work this week and he can't be on the computer as much lol. I always tease him that it's not me he loves but it's my computer lol. Naturally he agrees, the brat. I was showing him some pictures last night of him when he was small, he got a kick out of them. Billy doesn't have many pictures like that because his ex took most of them when they divorced. He need not worry though as I have tons of them. I assured him that Williams life is well documented here. I had him a lot as he grew and I always had camera at the ready. I have one album from when Billy and her got married all the way through the wedding, the reception, the showers and when William was born. All through his surgeries and on. I remember one time she asked me if she could have the album and I told her no not yet as I wasn't ready to part with it yet. I'm sure glad I said no. If I had given it to them then, Billy and William wouldn't have those pictures either. Thank God for that eh!

I did another page last night for the ABC challenge and will snap a pic of that and get it posted some time today in the events section. This is my A page lol.

Well I better post this and get around to visiting some of you before William wakes up. I hope to find that you all had a fun and enjoyable weekend. See ya soon!!!

    More Rain last night

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I hope this morning finds you all safe and happy.

It rained for quite awhile last night which of course we didn't need. It did however help with the standing water in our yard. It was all covered with slimy grren algea and stuff but the rain cleaned it out and now it's gone, just clear standing water now lol. Weird huh! I'm sure though when it gets hot again and the sun beats down the slime will be back. We've had some pretty nice days as far as the temperature goes and that feels good. And the best part is we haven't had to turn the AC on yet. Of course with the good comes the bad and that would be mosquitos! They are hungry little buggers and there's millions of them. You don't dare go out without spraying yourself down becauses they will suck you dry lol. Even if you could go out though the smell  drives you back inside anyway. Cindy, you asked if it's a fishy smell...not really. It's a putrid rank smell and it almost makes you gag. At least it does me. I can't wait until the river is back in it's banks and it takes the smell with it. It's getting closer and closer everyday now though. It's almost all the way down to the corner of our street over here. I think when it's half way across the road that is right on the river I'll grap another picture.

I'm copying Toodie and took some pics of some nasty and mean looking clouds that drenched the area.

They aren't what we want to see around here!

    DSCF0851 DSCF0852 DSCF0853

I got busy yesterday and made 3 pages for the ABC scrapbook challange. I put them in the album on the events page. I'm pretty happy with them if I must say so myself lol. My daughter sent me some pics for me to work on and I'm kind of anxious to get at those. I'm not going in order though. I'm just doing them and then deciding what letter of the alphabet they fit in lol. Hey, it works for me lol.

Well, time for me to get busy around here so I better get hopping.

Whatever you do today make it fun.

    A Close Call

    Girly Comments & Graphics

The sun is shinning and the birds are singing.

It's a pretty day! If it wasn't for the stench of the standing water it would be a great day to hang your laundry outside.

We had a close call last night. Bill had just gone to bed and I was messing around on the computer trying to print something out on velum paper for a scrap book page I was working on. All of a sudden I heard this strange noise so I went to investigate. When I walked into the kitchen I noticed the hose that we have going through and out the window had moved. At first I thought someone was outside messing around and pulled on it so I got the flashlight and went out to see. There wasn't anyone out there so I couldn't figure out why the hose had moved. I thought well I better check the basement and see if that was ok. I was shocked when I turned the light on and saw abaout 6 inches of water down there. I grabbed the hose and it came up out of the basement. It had come off of the pump and water was just pouring in there.

I ran upstairs and woke Bill up and we spent about an hour reconnecting things again. I'm just glad I hadn't gone to bed yet.It would have been completely flooded by morning if it had happened later during the night. Our hot water heater would have gone out and all of my Christmas decorations would have been ruined. So, I'm pretty grateful it happened when it did.

FEMA was here yesterday inspecting our house. We might get reimbursed for the sump pumps we had to buy, so that will be nice if we do. But you know, When I think of others who have lost everthing I almost feel quilty taking anything. They need it so much more then we do. I wouldn't have even called FEMA but I heard that the more people who call will help out every one else so that's why I called.

It's kind of sad with the way it smells so bad because Ican't even sit out on my deck and enjoy the nice weather we are having. I think this year summer is going to be a bummer for us.The river has gone down quite a bit over the last couple days though. It's almost down to the corner of the street now. So that's good eh!!!

    A really good dinner.

    Myspace Comments

Bill and I went to the Texas Roadhouse for dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. I had New York strip steak and Bill had Filet Mignon. They were so tender that they melted in your mouth. I love that place. It's a little pricey but the food is delicious. We've been there a few times before and I highly recommend it if you have one in your town. I couldn't eat all mine and brought half of it home, so guess what Bill' is have for supper tonight lol. Another night of no cooking lol. Just warm it up and call it done.

Today I am taking Brianna birthday present shopping. I have to do it either today or tomorrow because they are leaving for vacation that we were suppose to be leaving with them on Saturday. I called her last night to tell her we would pick her up and she told me 11:00 a.m. is a good time lol. I hope she picks something out that she can take along with her and have something to do on the drive up to the lake. Maybe we'll stop for ice cream too.

Well, the river is going down ever so S-L-O-W-L-Y and everyone is getting pretty sick of it. I can still see it out of my dining room window though but we mark it everyday to see how far it's gone down. I would say it's down about 6 inches Terry told me yesterday that the carpeting is wet in Rhonda's house. Their crawl space must be full of water. That will be a job getting that out. Darn it anyway, I was hoping that wouldn't happen. But if you saw her house you'd be surprised if it hadn't happened. Water completely surrounds it and it is pretty deep.

I must say, I am very impressed with the Red Cross. They come here 2 or 3 times a day with food and water and cleaning kits. Or they come just to check on us and give us information on what to do after the flood. The gave us information on what and where to go if you find yourself getting depressed. I took a cleaning kit and the water but we are fine with food. I have no idea how long it will be before we can use our own water again. We got a testing kit the other day and will taking that in today sometime. Keep your fingers crossed for us please. I sure hope it's ok.

We still have lots of standing water in the yard on the other side of the driveway. It's from the people up the street pumping out their basement and I'm hoping that doesn't effect our drinking water. Their yard is completely dry while ours is flooded and it's all from their basement. Bill said he's going to ask them to move the hose to the back of their house for awhile. As saturated as the ground is I have a feeling we all will have water seeping in for weeks and weeks.

Well, you know what today is...Thirsty Thursday!!! Do I dare go out two nights in a row lol. I will await your answers lol.

    42 years of Wedded Bliss

    6/25/1966

    scan0004

We have been married 42 years today.

Some days it feels like a long time but other days it's almost like it was just yesterday. We still love each other just as much if not more then we did back then. Isn't it funny how love changes the longer you are together. At first it's the exciting passionate love, the kind where you can't stand being apart from each other for a single minute. But then it changes. When the kids come and you see what a wonderful parent they are it makes you love them in a different way. Then when the kids are gone and have started families of their own it changes to a comfortable love. the love where you know you are there for each other again. You are each others companion and with that comes the security that there is that one special person who would walk to the ends of the earth for you. Like every couple we've had our share of arguments but we have never separated, not even for a day. We talked and worked things out and neither of us was afraid to say we were sorry. It might not have been that day or even the next but eventually we did.

So here we are 42 years later and still happy.

Below is a picture of our wedding party. Terry was my maid of honor, my cousin, and my sister Rhonda were my bridesmaids and Jodi was my flower girl.

Bill's best friend Tom was his best man and his brother Dave and his cousin Rick were groomsmen and Ward was his ring bearer.

We've all changed a bit since then lol.

    scan0003

As you can see I still have the proofs. It was easier to scan these.

I'm not sure what we are going to do.

Probably go out to dinner some where nice.

    Early memories

    Myspace Comments

What are your earliest memories? We were discussing just that on another forum I belong too. Some said they could remember when they were only months old while others couldn't remember much at all before they were 7 or 8. I can remember when I was 3 but that's because I spent four months in the hospital. I remember having a body cast on from the tip of my toes all they way up to my chest. I was born with a dislocated hip and when I was 3 I had surgery at which time the doctors made me a hip socket out of my own bone and muscle. I can remember the room I was in and the other children who were there too. My bed was across from the door and I could see the elevator from there. Every time the elevator doors opened I watched to see if my mom was getting off. Mom lived and worked in Milwaukee so she could be with me and Dad stayed here to work and be with Terry.

Every once in awhile they let me come home for the weekend, body cast and all. My grandpa would come and get us and I would lay in the back seat for the ride home. He was a fast driver and I remember going over little hills kind of fast and it would tickle my tummy lol. Have you ever had that feeling going over a small hill? All of my cousins would come to see me and tickle my toes sticking out of the cast. When the weekend was over I think I cried all the way back to Milwaukee.

The worst time during those 4 months was the day they sawed off my cast. In my 3 year old mind I thought they were going to cut my legs off. I cried and cried and screamed my head off. But boy did it feel good when that was off. Of course I had to learn to walk all over again and to this day I limp. I can even remember the dress mom bought me to wear home when I was finally released. It was a yellow taffeta dress with black ribbon trim lol. Wish I still had that.

It did make me wonder though about those who said they remember being only a few months old. Do they have actual memories or are they just remembering something that was told to them? I suppose anything is possible and if something traumatic or exciting happened when you were young I'm suppose that would stay with you.

So tell me, how far back can you remember.

The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day today. The only problem is with the mosquitos being so bad I can't enjoy my deck. I don't think we'll have much of a summer to enjoy around here this year. At least not until the river recedes back to it's banks and it's cleaned up. Once more rain is predicted for several days starting tomorrow and we all know how much we need that. The summer of 2008 is going to be remembered and talked about for years to come.

    A Good Day

    great week

It was a perfect day today. Except for the water of course but that will be gone soon. The Red Cross was here today going house to house checking on us. One lady was from Georgia and she was so sweet. After she gave me the information she had for everyone she asked if she could have a hug. They ask if you are handling things OK or are you sad and depressed. I told her I was fine and that I'm grateful more then anything. After all, it could have been a lot worse but we were one of the lucky ones. I took William over on my sisters street yesterday and I couldn't believe it. I hadn't been over there for a few days and it really came up over there. Rhonda's house is completely surrounded and she went to go stay with her daughter. I knew she had but I hadn't realized the water got up that bad. I knew her yard was flooded but didn't realized just how high it had gotten. She has asthma and the smell and mold and fungus isn't a good thing for her to breath in. Jodi's house isn't much better. She has water almost all the way around her. Terry's is pretty good as it's only up to her driveway and a little bit near her back door. Then there are those who have some major damage. They are the ones I really feel bad for. I was told that one of the houses that is right on the river is really bad. That is the house that is owned by people who live in Chicago. Someone went down there and looked in the window and saw that the carpeting and furniture etc. are floating. That makes me want to cry for those folks. I can't even begin to imagine what those in Iowa are going through.

Speaking of the Red Cross they are here again at this very moment. They are handing out more water and hot food to those who don't have power. I have to say I never thought that I'd ever see a Red Cross diseaster relief truck in my life and in my neighborhood. It kind of put things in perspective for you doesn't it. Makes me even more grateful.

You know you sure have to respect those who work for the Red Cross.

God Bless them and those they are helping.

The River has reached it's crest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Ya! Doing the happy dance!!

They tell us the river is as high as it's going to get now. Can you give me a yippie and a yahoo!!! According to the graph it is starting to recede today and it can't be fast enough for us around here. The fire dept. is going to start a clean up on the 7th according to the paper. It is going to be a mess when the water is back where it belongs. It will probably take just about as long for it to go down as it did to come up. But at least it's going down! I guess this means it's safe to bring my pictures and things back downstairs now.

We did drive over to the Big Hills yesterday to see what it looked like from the other side of the river. I thought we would be able to see our neighborhood but the trees are too tall now and blocked the view. We could see the house on the last street over from us and the park . Here are a few pics of that. The rest I will put in another album.

    DSCF0796 DSCF0799 DSCF0800

We had a good day yesterday. Bri's birthday is the end of the month but they had her party yesterday because they will be on vacation next week. We were suppose to go with them but now with all this and our basement filling with water we don't feel like we should. Water is pouring in there and even though the pumps are doing a good job we don't want to leave in case they quit working. I can hear the water rushing in as I sit here typing. I'm bummed out about it too. I was so looking forward to this vacation and now we can't go. I haven't been anywhere since I went to Seattle last May and I'm about ready to climb the walls. I know we can go somewhere when all this is over but I wanted to be with the kids. Yes, I'm pouting Crying I'll put some birthday pictures in the album instead of in here.

William called after they got home last night and asked if he could come and stay for a few days. Of course you already know what I told him lol. He's asleep right now but when he's up he'll be kicking me off of here so I had to get this in before he does wake up lol. I guess it will be a good day to go to the laundromat then since I can't surf the web ;). He hasn't been here since the flooding started and he couldn't believe it when he got here. He was just amazed at how it was. Today I'll take him over to where my sisters live so he can see that street. Theirs is a lot worse then ours over there. I hope it's something he'll never have to see again.

    Have a good day

    June 21

    Still raining

At least it's not raining as hard as it did yesterday but it's still raining this morning and it's suppose to rain on and off all day. Yesterday I went and bought some more paper plates, some plastic & styrofoam (sp) cups and some plastic utensils. We aren't sure if the water is safe so I don't want to do dishes anymore then I have too. I of course would boil the water but using these will safe on our sewer system as well. I'll cook on the grill as much as I can.

Bill also went and bought a bigger sump pump yesterday as well and just in time too. Water is now pouring into our basement and we had about 4 inches down there before he put the bigger pump in. This is is a half horse and a lot better then the other one. We still have both of them pumping though just to be on the safe side. One is hooked to the sewer and going out that way but the big we had to do it a different way. So now I have a great big hose coming up the stairs, through the kitchen and out the kitchen window. It's not a pretty site but you have to do what you have to do. He bought enough hose to go all the way out to our back lot. The lot of course is now completely full of water. In the picture you can see all the canned water we have along with our Pepsi lol. Gotta have my Pepsi.DSCF0777 Beer brewing companies are now canning water as well as making beer. Good idea eh?

I want to take a ride over to the big hills today and see what it looks like from there. It's right across the river from us and there is a look out stand there and you can see our neighborhood. I bet it will blow my mind looking at it from that vantage point.

I can't tell if it went up over night again as I haven't been out yet, but I did take a picture from my dining room window yesterday and this is what I see. The river is right behind that small tree in my neighbors yard up the driveway of the next house down. I'm just afraid if it keeps raining it will make the river raise even more. Especially if it rains hard like it has been. We just don't need it. Enough is enough!!!

     DSCF0783

Some are enjoying the heck out of all this weather.

    DSCF0781

These guys are in our back yard just loving it.

Well the sun is out now, I don't know for how long but it's out. So I am going to get dressed and see if Bill wants to take that ride over to the big hills before it starts again.

Be back later. Until then I hope you all have a great day.

    Just Wonderful

This is what it's doing outside here right this minute!!! Baring teeth
    Video: Out the Back Door
And we certainly don't need this. the video is one from the other day but it is a exact repeat of what we had before.

On top of that a neighbor was just in a accident up on the highway trying to pull down in his street. We heard the crash from our house and we are on another street half way down fromt he highway. A girl probably straining her neck to see the river or talking on a cell phone rear ended him. Her air bag deployed and she had a 18 month old baby with her. Both look to be ok from what I could see. Some are blaming the cop who is stationed at the top of the street to keep onlookers out of the neighborhood. They think he s hould be sitting farther back and not right at the top of the road. And they could be right because it is hard to pull down there with him right there especially if someone else is trying to pull out. They've asked him to move back but he hasn't yet.
Anyway, the front end of her car is gone. She hit him that hard, and there was no skid marks on the road so she didn't even try to stop. He had a nice truck so I'm sure his direcctionals were working. I just hope and pray he isn't hurt to bad.

It just never ends does it.

    Part 11

Good Morning! Well so far so good yet. I walked down our street this morning and took some pictures around here. The water has gone up some, it's now one house away from us. My next door neighbor has water up to her house on the side where the water is coming from.DSCF0772 She took a leave from work to keep an eye on her basement as well. I'm still thinking that it won't reach us...and praying. Her husband had a mild heart attack back in January and she doesn't want him doing a lot. She was having a fit when he tried to lift those sand bags. I called over to my sisters and the guys over there came and finished it for them.

Boy we sure have the frogs now. I haven't seen any but I heard them all night long lol. They sound like big bull frogs as loud as they are.

I took more pics standing at the waters edge looking toward our house again. This is how it was yesterday    DSCF0741

This one is from this morning. I couldn't stand in the water like I did before because I just had my slippers on lol

    DSCF0774

That small tree on the left is in my neighbors yard so you can't see my window like you could yesterday.

I need to do laundry but I'm going to go to a laundromat. Some folks here are having sewer issues and I don't want that so I think that's they best way to go. Who knows how long it will go on. They say it could take just as long for the water to go down as it did to flood so we could be in for a long haul. Oh, I took a picture of a flower that is growing in our side yard where it is still full of water from the rains and from our neighbor up the street of us who is pumping out his basement and it's running down the street into our yard. DSCF0770 Is that a sign? I think it is lol. That is where I planted some flowers this spring and that's the only survivor. Funny thing though, it wasn't there a few days ago, I thought they were all drowned out.

Speaking of rain...We have rain predicted for the next few days. It's only a 30% to 40% chance and scattered so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they fizzle out.

The police has been sitting up at the intersection at 2 of the streets over from me. I think it's partly because a girl came down to check on her mom's house and there was a truck pulling a trailer backing into her mom's driveway. A neighbor man was there and told them to hit the road so they did leave. To be able to drive down here you have to give them your name, age and the address you are going too. If you don't know the address you aren't going anywhere. I think that's a darn good idea don't you.

Yesterday was thirsty Thursday so I did go up to the bar to visit with the girls. Of course we talked about all that has been going on and decided what will be will be. We toasted each other and celebrated life. I even stayed longer then I usually do.It was nice to go out and enjoy ourselves. Might even go again tonight lol.

Ok, I'm hungry so I'm going to get some breakfast. I hope you all have a great day. I will...come hell or high water LOL.

    Part 10 cont. Today's pictures

I put the waders on again and took a short walk. I didn't try to go out as far as I have been going. I hadn't planned on it either but I put the waders on because there isn't hardly anywhere you can walk that you don't have to walk through water except up past our house. The water is pretty murky and I don't want it touching me lol. In case any of you are interested we now have river front property for sale at a pretty good price LOL. It's come up about 2 more inches. I don't know why they are saying it won't crest until Sunday now instead of tomorrow, but that's what the news is reporting. I suppose it's because it's still coming down from the north. Anyway I did take a few more pictures today to show you.

    DSCF0762

This one I took in our back lot as I was walking through to the other street.

    DSCF0763

This one I took at the edge of the water on the street behind us looking toward the river.

    DSCF0764

The water in this guys driveway wasn't up to the sandbags yesterday.

    DSCF0765

I zoomed into the river to see what was floating out there...still don't know lol

    DSCF0766

The water has really come up in this yard. These people left the second or third day.

    DSCF0769

I'm standing on our back deck in this one. You can see the water in our lot there.

    DSCF0767

See why I wear the waders! The water looks nasty.

The national guard is handing out cases of bottled water, a 5 gallon bucket with bleach, antibacterial dish soap brushes, rubber gloves, scouring powder, sponges, goggles, face masks, wash cloths, soap, toothpaste and brushes and hair combs. Bill just left to go get a water testing kit the township is handing out as well.

But so far we are still ok. And like I said before...this is nothing compared to those folks in Iowa and now probably those along the Mississippi pretty soon.

My mom had a saying that I always think of when things get tough and it goes like this.

"I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet."

That kind of puts things in perspective doesn't it.

    Part 10 and T-ball

It looks to me that the river has gone up a little bit more. I haven't been out yet today but just looking out my window it looks like it's closer. Fema was here yesterday checking things out and the fire dept went around handing out papers saying our water might be contaminated and not to drink it if it's cloudy and discolored. Our backyard is full of water now. I call it our back yard but it's a empty lot that we bought years ago that is right behind our house and joins our back yard.  I don't think I'll be wadding around in the river down on the street by the river too far anymore, maybe just a little ways out from now on. It's getting too deep to be able to go where I have been. Our sump pump is running almost constantly now. It shuts off for a second and then it's right back on again. The water is really running in there. So far it's still just wet with no flooding or standing water and I hope it stays that way.  I'll be back later with some more pictures if it looks worse then it did yesterday.

Last night we went to our Granddaughter's T-ball game. Kids that age are so fun to watch. She loves it and we love that she loves it and she got a hit each time she was up to bat. Of course I took video so here ya go. You can see she's my little all star.

    Video: Bri's t-ball game

Well that's it for now. I'll be back later once I get around and see how things are going. Oh I almost forgot. Now they are saying that the river won't crest until Sunday!!!

Part 9 Pics of my sisters and my homes.

I took some pictures of my sisters homes. They are worse off then I am by far. Water isn't in their homes yet but water is all around them.

    DSCF0744

I took this picture looking up from where they water's edge is toward my house. My house is the beige one where you can see the window trimmed in brown. As you can see we are ok as of yet and I don't think it will get to us. They said it could raise another foot, so even at that I don't think we will have any issues like my neighbor's have.

    DSCF0740

    Part 8...videos

These are videos I took yesterday. The last one is short because the batteries died in my camera. When I get dressed I'm going to go out and stand at the end of my driveway to show you how far up the road it is now. I just heard on our local news that the river could raise another foot over the next day or so. If it does that it will be up to my next door neighbors house. We put sand bags around there yesterday too. We might do our's if it gets much closer.

You can smell the river and if it gets hot it's really going to smell. The sanitation stations in the town north of us has given out and they are having ecoli issues in the flood water there. I'm pretty sure it will flow south so eventually I imagine that will reach us as well. It's a pretty good guess our drinking water wells will have to be treated. I was told that if you have a point you might be ok but if you have an open well you will have problems. We have a point.

Anyway, so far we are still ok. I hope it stays that way.

    Part 7 Pics & video

We've been filling sandbags again all day and I'm bushed. Today they put them around Terry's, Rhonda's and Jodi's houses. The water has come up some more from yesterday. They told us that they will be spraying for mosquito's too but I don't know when they are going to do that. I'm adding some pictures that I took both yesterday and today. I also have some video again as I put on my trusty waders and walked around the other way today. I'll have to put them in two separate I suppose because another time I tried to put 3 or 4 in one blog and nothing of them showed so I had to do it over.

I kind of got into a argument with a neighbor lady today. She came down and started complaining about the township officials not doing enough for us. I asked her what does she think they should be doing that they aren't and she said they should tell us what to do, people are wading through the water barefoot and riding their bikes through there. They should tell us not to do that stuff. I said...what, you need to be told that. Don't you know not to do it unless you're told not too. It's just common sense. How many times have you watched TV when other places have flooded where  they tell people not to be driving through standing water etc. She didn't say much after that. They are doing all they can for us. All we have to do is call for sand and it's there in a matter of a few minutes. They drive down here every hour checking things out and helping people out whose homes are getting flooded. They have water test kits for us after the flooding waters go down and will test them for free. So what more she thinks they should be doing is beyond me. Some people just look for reasons to bitch. There's nothing more them or us can do, it's all up to mother nature and we're doing all we can and so are they.

Ok, gonna add some more pictures. We do have fun while we work though lol. The duck is swimming in our yard and that's me in my waders lol

I have 3 more videos that I'm loading and will post them tomorrow.

Hope you all have had a great day today! I'll be around to check in soon.

    Hugs

part 6... Video,I spoke too soon.

I didn't think the river looked much different last night when we got home but it did raise more overnight. I put some waders on and walked around the area and took video. I couldn't get to video the whole neighborhood before the memory card filled so I might go back where I left off later and do the rest. The news media was here a little while ago interviewing people..no I didn't want to be on TV LOL. Anyway here's the video from this morning. I guess they are still saying it will keep rising and should crest by Friday.

    Part 5

The sun is shining and there are no storms in the forecast, so as long as the dams hold up I think the worst is over. The river still hasn't gotten to us and I don't think it will. My sister's homes haven't been affected either and are in good shape. I do feel bad for those who lived right on the river though. I haven't been down there yet this morning to check things out but when I do and if things are any different I be sure to take pics and post them. When I walked down last night it seemed to be the same. They tell us that it's expected to crest on Friday but I think it has already. According to this scale it is still expected to rise over the next few days but I'm hoping not.

We've had so many site seer's  driving down here that the police are now sitting at the end of the road and you have to prove that you live here or have family who lives here. I can understand the curiosity as this is something most people around here have never seen, including me.

    Now on to happier news.

We spent Father's Day up at our sons home and had a great day. They all chipped in and gave their dad a gas card. Wasn't that a great idea what with gas prices they way they are now? Terry and her family was there too as their son is married to my son's sister so we always spend Mother's Day and Father's Day together. Usually Rhonda and Jodi are with us too but Rhonda was in South Dakota for a wedding and Jodi didn't feel like going. We usually have it at Terry's but with the ground being wet and the flooding, that was out of the question for this year. But it's always a holiday for me when we all get together.

Terry made a movie DVD about our Dad for father's day and I'm trying to figure out how to post it on here. She doesn't have her computer hooked up now because of the flooding so I can't go over there and do it. I have it here and am making copies but can't figure out how to save it to my pc. I have to tell you I bawled when I saw it and didn't think I was going to be able to stop. I miss them so much and even when we are just talking about them I get teary eyed even after all these years. If I can get it figured out I'm still going to post it.

    So Happy Father's Day Dad!

We love you and miss you

    Part 4

We sure don't need a forecast like this one. It's raining now but it's a light rain. It rained last night too on and off.

    Today

    6/15/2008

    Hi: 81°

Thunderstorms likely until mid afternoon...then chance of thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds. Highs in the lower 80s. West winds up to 10 mph. Chance of thunderstorms 60 percent.

    Lo: 56°

Decreasing clouds. A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Lows in the mid 50s. Northwest winds up to 10 mph.

I haven't been out yet this morning to see the river and how far it is now. I can't see it out my window so it isn't up to our neighbors yet so that's good. I might grab an umbrella in a bit and go see where it is now.  But here's where it was yesterday afternoon. It changed some in 24 hours.

    DSCF0656  DSCF0648 DSCF0649 DSCF0650 DSCF0666 DSCF0638 DSCF0654 DSCF0652 DSCF0657 DSCF0664

The picture where you can see the walk way to a house, that house is built up quite a bit. The homes next to him are at ground level so are getting surrounded. I took my shoes off yesterday and walked around there and the water wasn't quite mid calf. I saw that itty bitty snake  exploring new territory lol. I'm starting to think that it won't get up to our house. If the dams hold up and the storms quit I think we just might be fine. They say the river should crest by Wednesday. Downtown is flooding too and people are being told not to drive down there.  It still isn't as bad here as it is in Iowa. Not even close and my heart breaks for those there. The sad part is though, what we get here eventually flows their way and they don't need that at all.

I had told my daughter that if we had to leave that we would come and stay with them. Well, my grandkids called last night and wanted us to come up right away. They were worried that we would get stuck here and not be able to get out. Devan says Grandma I want you to come tonight and Josh who is the thinker was telling me all the reasons we should leave and come up there lol. Gotta love'em.
