Happy Thursday!

Well thank God it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get my car fixed. In fact it was only $26.00, how cool is that?! They said it was just a stabilizer link so now no more clunking noises. It's a good thing because the fuel pump went out on Bill's van last week and that cost us over $600.00 and it's going back to the garage tomorrow. The service engine light is on and it never did that before so they said to bring it in. The mechanic seems pretty nice (for a mechanic) he says he wants it fixed right, so I don't think it will cost us anymore then what we've already paid. Unless of course they find something unrelated to the fuel pump that's causing it. Keep your fingers crossed for us ok?

I need your opinion on something. Besides being a member of the true crime readers forum here on the web I sometimes go into a site called  crimerant. Well on there they are discussing a letter someone wrote about his dad who is an x-con. He feels that those of us who post there are to hard on criminals and we should show more compassion. Here's what he wrote...

"I came across this page by accident during a search, and I have to say how dissapointed I am in the people who post on this site. Just because a person is incarcerated doesn’t mean they should be thrown away like a piece of trash. There are plenty of prisoners who get released and do turn thier lives around. My father was in this boat, he grew up hard and fast, and was locked up by the time he was fifteen years old. By the time he was in and out of jail and prison nearly ten years of his life had been lost. He went to work, with no formal education and worked his way from a construction grunt to eventually being lead engineering inspector for the city where we live. All this with hard work and determination, and he never got in trouble again. I started writing to a female prisoner myself last year by the encouragement of my pastor at church, eventually started visiting, and have found a world that you people could not even imagine here. For all of your callouse talk, and lack of human kindness I hope you know what it is to care about someone who is locked up some day, then you won’t be so quick to judge. And Prison Talk Online is a wonderful site for support of people connected with the prison system, not the convicts themselves."

So the discussion was whether or not you would be a pen pal to someone in prison. There's quite a disagreement among many of us. Some agree with him and some don't. I don't. I'm glad his dad turned his life around and he has every right to be proud of him for that. But as far as writing to pedophiles, child killers. rapists, murderers etc. etc. isn't something I'd want to do. Sure they can tell you they found God and are turning their lives around, but the vast majority of them re-offend shortly after their release. I for one wouldn't believe what they tell me to begin with and for another I certainly wouldn't do anything to put my family in danger in case he decided to look me up once he gets out. I guess I've read too many true crime stories to believe anything a criminal has to say. I do feel sorry for their families but they didn't think of them when they commited their crimes did they? I'm sure they are the ones who are truly suffering besides the families of their victims. One lady on there who doesn't see anything wrong with it even went so far as to say that writing to prisoners is the same as writing to someone in the military. Someone told her that there is no comparison, she did retract that statement however. That would have never entered my mind or would think for even a second that it would be the same.

So I'm interested in knowing what you think about it. Would you be a prisoners pen pal?

I think my new favorite show for the summer is going to be "So You Think You Can Dance" Boy it seems as though some of those kids doesn't have any joints. I love to dance but I have to say I would be in so much pain and probably lose my ability to walk if I tried doing what they do. I love watching good dancers though and I'd love to take ballroom lessons. But for some strange reason I can't see Bill going along with that. He might if it involved dancing in a fising boat or a turkey blind lol. But otherwise NO, I don't see him doing that. I often wondered what it would be like to dance with a "GOOD" dancing partner lol. Bill just kinds of stands there and shimmy's. Don't tell him I said that ok...lol. One thing does irritate me about the show though. It's that women judge's laugh. She has the most shrill laugh I've ever heard. Bill said they should turn off her mic and I have to agree. But I like her, in fact I like all of them. So for now that is my new favorite TV show.

FYI

I'm going to change the look of my space again. I'm bored with this look. Not sure what I will do yet, but I'll come up with something I'm sure. I kind of like this pink. What do you think? Hmmmmm

Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Thursday!
