    More layoff 's

    Photobucket

Nothing new and exiting to write about today. Pretty much the same day as it was yesterday lol.

Well I guess there is some bad news to report. The General Motor plant here announced it is going to eliminate one entire shift at the plant. Some 750 people will be out of a job. From what I understand this will be a permanent lay off. Of course when one plant lays off you get the trickle down effect for other plants who supply them with parts. That would be where Billy works. He works at a plant that makes the seats for the trucks and suburbans for the GM plant. As a result they to will be laying people off as well. Billy probably won't get it though, he started working there from the beginning of the plant opening. He's pretty much up there with seniority, only about 70 people with more then him. My niece Danielle won't be so lucky though. She's only been there a few years so will be one of the unlucky ones. IF things keep going this way no one will have a job around here.

So, what are you going to do with the check from the government that is going out today? They want you to go out and buy things but will you? Or, will you pay on a bill instead? Not sure what we will do yet. Those who are behind in  child support won't be getting a check though, did you know that? I just heard it on the Today show. What I wonder though will the one who is suppose to be getting the child support get the money instead? They should in my opinion. But how much you wanna bet they won't?

Well that's all I can think of to blab about today lol, so I will sign off for now.

But first want to see a funny?

     THE WEDDING TEST

I was a very happy man.    My wonderful girlfriend
and I had been dating for over a year, and so we
decided to get married. There was only one
little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful
    younger sister.

My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very
tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less. She
would regularly bend down when she was near
me, and I always got more than a nice view. It had to
be deliberate. Because she never did it when she was
    near anyone else.

One day her 'little' sister called and asked me to
come over to check the wedding invitations. She was
alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she
had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't
overcome . She told me that she wanted me just once
before I got married and committed my life to her sister.

Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word.

She said, 'I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if
you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me.'

I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go
up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned
and made a beeline straight to the front door. I
opened the door, and headed straight towards my car.
Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing
    outside, all clapping!

With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and
said, 'We are very happy that you have passed our
little test. We couldn't ask for a better
man for our daughter. Welcome to the family.'

And the moral of this story is:
Always keep your condoms in your car

    No turkey for Bill

Best images, comment images, layouts and more for your profile on SparkleTags.com

Good morning and happy Monday to ya!!!

I'm so glad you all enjoyed the video hello lol. It was fun making it even if I did feel a little silly talking to the camera. I found it so interesting on how many comments I got about my "accent" lol. Isn't it funny when you hear that. Of course to me I don't have an accent, all of you do lol. But I just might , as Ramblin on put it...DUIT again one day Smile.

Bill got home Saturday from his turkey hunting trip without a turkey. He only saw a couple and they were too far away. With all the rain and snow we've had it wasn't a good time to hunt. The fields were nothing but mud. In fact their trucks got stuk a couple times and they had to push them out. The funny part is, when the trucks took off it sprayed mud all over everybody lol. Bill said his boots were so caked with mud that it was like he was wearing platform shoes lol. It's no fun hunting in conditions like that. He planned on staying until Sunday but decided to come home Saturday instead. I feel bad for him that it was so miserable, I know how much he was looking forward to it. Oh well, there's always next year. And besides he'll be going again in a couple of weeks to hunt on our daughters property.

Jon's mom isn't doing very well. She's still in the hospital and the doctors say her liver functions are failing. I know when I went up to see her the other day she sure didn't look good. She kind of looked yellow and is very very weak. Besides that her heart rate is slowing down, her blood pressure is low and she's filling up with fluid. They had to insert a tube in her abdomen to drain some off and that sent her into cardiac arrest and they had to do CPR on her. But she snapped out of it and seems to be holding on. The doctor was surprised she made it through the night and now says if she keeps up like this there is no telling how long she will hang on. He said it could go fast or she could stay like this for quite awhile. It could be a day, a week or even a year he said.   I know one thing, I can't imagine her going back home with them. She is so weak that she can't even hold herself up to walk. She'll need more care then they can  handle. She can't even write her own name now. They have too many stairs in their house and they will have to bath her, dress her, carry her to the bathroom or put her on a bed pan and everything else that goes with caring for a sick person. Since my daughter is pregnant she can't lift her and the kids are too small to help much. So I just can't see her coming home to live again. Her daughter is here from Colorado and she says the same thing. So I think she will end up going to a nursing home. Sad I know but what else can you do besides hire someone to come in to take care of her and heaven knows they can't afford that. I guess we will find out soon huh.

What happened to spring grrrrr. Winter is back again. It going all the way down to 25 tonight with snow possible. And the rest of the week isn't going to be much better. Temps in the low 50's or lower. That's just WRONG!

    A Video Hello

    Lunch with Cindy and Terry

Terry on the left, Cindy on the right!
    Terry and Cindy

    Isn't this picture nice!
We had such a good time at lunch today. Terry and I had some kind of chicken dinner and Cindy had bacon salad or something like that. When I saw that salad I wished I'd ordered that instead lol. Of course you know we talked about all of you, so if your ears were ringing now you know why Wink
Cindy is such a sweetheart. Look what she brought for us. One of her cute little pin cushions that she makes. I have it sitting here on the desk right next to the cute little piggy bank she sent me on my birthday.
    DSCF0002
After lunch we were happily on our way to Hobby Lobby. Cindy was surprised at how big it was. Of course it use to be a Walmart store so it is pretty big. We all bought some goodies. Sadly I spent the most but there were some things I needed. Can't tell you right now because my daughter reads my blog lol.
Oh, while we were at lunch and I was going to take a picture of Cindy and Terry. I didn't realize that I had the camera on video instead of photo lol. So here's the video. It's pretty short and shakey because when I realized it was taking video instead I stopped it. I know I know I should have let it keep running lol. But it's pretty funny anyway.

    Isn't this just dandy

    Our weather report isn't pretty.

    Now
An area of thunderstorms over southeast Minnesota and eastern Iowa is moving northeast at 35 mph. Through 90o AM these thunderstorms will track across south central Wisconsin. Some of these thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall up to 1 inch in an hour over already saturated ground. Localized flooding and ponding of water may occur. Over southeastern Wisconsin...the area of thunderstorms is expected to arrive between 10 AM and noon. A very moist airmass over southeast Wisconsin has lead to the development of fog...with some locally dense fog reducing visibilities to less than 1/2 mile. Rush hour motorists should be alert for rapidly changing visibilities until the fog lifts later this morning.
    Hi: 75°
Breezy. Thunderstorms in the morning...then occasional thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall...then some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of thunderstorms near 100 percent.
    Lo: 42°
Colder...breezy. Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph early in the morning.
I'm not too happy about this. I hate driving in the rain but I won't miss lunch with Cindy for anything. I hope it doesn't rain until after we are all home safe and sound. Cindy has to drive the farthest so I hope for her sake especially that it holds off.
It rained a lot yesterday and the river just doesn't need that right now. The ground is saturated enough already that it can't hold much more.
Ok, I'm off to get ready for lunch. Will tell ya all about it either later today or in the morning.
Have a great weekend now ya hear!

    Happy Thursday

    Good Morning Everybody!

Well Bill left this morning to take William to school and is heading up north afterwards. I hope he has a good time, I just hope he doesn't bring home a turkey lol. It turns out I won't have to go up and stay with the kids as Jon's layoff came sooner then expected. I can't tell you how much that sucks. But what can you do.

It's another day of clouds and gloom. They say thunderstorms this afternoon and through tomorrow. I hope it doesn't rain up north where Bill is going. I would hate for it to ruin his hunting. He is really looking forward to it and always has a good time when he goes. The friends he stays with up there are childhood friend of his. They grew up together and were each others best man at our weddings. So they go way back with each other and are more like brothers then friends.

I see where my sister has been around visiting some of you. Yup, she's been around to everyone but ME. What's up with that huh lol. After all I am her "favorite" sister lol. Just don't let my other two sisters know that I said that. They think they are the favorite and I would hate to burst their bubble lol. My niece has a space too as you will see on Terry's space. She is private as well.

I'm meeting Cindy for lunch tomorrow and I'm looking forward to that. It's been a whole year hasn't it Cindy? Terry is going to join us as well so Cindy will get to meet her too.  And guess what...afterwards we are going to HOBBY LOBBY. It just so happens that they are having a 50% off sale on some of their scrap book items and besides that I have coupons for 25% off a regular priced item. I get a flyer in email with the coupon on it so I printed out some extras to give to them. Neat huh!

You know company's are getting pretty cagey now when they have coupons. This one says it is only for one item and you can only use it once, here's the kicker. You can only use it once per day. I know I've been guilty of having a couple coupons and going back later to use the other one but you can't do that anymore lol. Not sure how they know though unless they take your name or number or something. I guess I will find out tomorrow huh.

    April 23

    Another busy morning

Bill went out to stay with the our daughter's kids and I went up to take William to school. Jon's mom won't be out of the hospital for at least a week and maybe more. In fact they are going to send her to rehab to see if they can strengthen her legs. I guess she's pretty weak and has a hard time balancing and holding herself up. So Bill had to put off going up north for a day. He was going to go this morning but he has to go back up there Thursday morning and I have to get William. Since JOn works 3rd shift they will still need someone to be with the kids Friday morning but I told Bill I would go up Thursday night and stay overnight with them. I don't want to drive up there at 2:00 in the morning alone. It's mostly all country roads and always dark and you never know when a deer will jump out in front of you. I really don't like driving very far at night anyway. I would if I had to but I'd rather not. So I will spend the night there and have fun with the kids.

My daughter bought some quilling papers and wants me to show her how to do it, so that's something we can do while I'm there. I like doing that and I like the way it makes a scrap book page look. It adds dimension and depth to your page. It's tedious work though but the results you get are well worth it. I was making some flower petals the other day but haven't put them together yet. Hopefully I'll get time to do it today. I brought Billy's laundry home with me so I need to get that done first.

Oh, we heard on the news last night that where our youngest son works is going to be laying people off too. They said it will be a temporary lay off and they will be called back. I don't think my son will get laid off though, he's been there for many years so I think he's pretty safe. Besides he has a wonderful work record and never misses a day. It's not a union shop so they can pick and choose who they will lay off or not. It would be my guess they would keep people they can depend on wouldn't you think?

The sun is shinning bright today and the rain and gloomy day is gone...thank God!

    April 22

    Lay off update

Hello! Hope this Tuesday finds you all well and happy.

My son-in-law did get laid off from work. I think he said his last day will be May 1st. It is an indefinite lay off so he will have to look for a new job. It's a crying shame as he was making good money there with great benefits. They did tell them if they still wanted to work for the company that they could go to Wausau and work there. But my God that's a 3 hour drive one way. Way to far with the gas prices being so high. Luckily my son didn't get it. He will be going on days though instead of working 3rd shift but he's happy about that. The kids and Debi are happy about it too. I only pray that they won't be laying off anymore because if they do Jesse will probably be in that group.

It's been a busy morning around here today. Bill had to get up early, 2:30, and go to our daughters to stay with the kids after she left for work at 4:00, until Jon got home. His mom who lives with them and is there with the kids is in the hospital again. I'm not quite sure what's wrong with her and the doctor's don't know yet either. They've run a lot of tests but nothing has shown up yet. Then I had to go get William to take him to the dentist then drop him off at school afterwards.

Bill is suppose to leave in the morning for turkey hunting but now he might have to put it off for a day or two. If she doesn't get out of the hospital one of us has to go and stay with the kids and I can't be in two places at once. I don't think I could go out there and stay with the kids and be over to take William to school on time.  Bill can go turkey hunting a day or two later but it's too bad when things come up like this. It's so hard when they live over 20 miles away. As much as I love their house I now wish they had stayed here in town. I don't know what they will do when the baby comes. Jon's mom isn't healthy enough or even strong enough for that matter to be able to take care of a baby. It's not going to be easy I can tell you that. Oh well, things will work themselves out like they always do. I might go out there and stay overnight tonight instead of Bill having to get up so early and go. But we'll wait and see what happens. It's only a couple hours they need someone there with the kids and they are 8 and 10 so it's just the matter of having an adult there with them. I think the kids take more care of Jon's mom then she does taking care of them.

It's a cloudy rainy day today and not good for the mood I'm in. I can't help thinking and worrying about these kids and days like this doesn't make it any easier. It's gray and chilly, nothing like it was the last couple of days. It's predicted to get to 71 but it better hurry up if it's going to make it to that.

I want to thank all of you for making my sister feel welcome, I'm sure we'll all be one big happy family Smile

Well that's all for now I guess. Wish I had some good news to share...maybe tomorrow.

Take care and have a great day!

    My Sister

    SISTERS

For weeks and weeks now I've been after my sister to get a space and join in on the fun, and today she finally did it. With my help of course LOL! She's private right now so you will have to request to be added but I'll tell her if you're a friend of mine you are a friend of hers too. Here's the link to her space so I hope you all go over and welcome her.

    oh...

Don't belive a word she says about me. Unless of course she tells the truth and tells you how nice and sweet I am.Open-mouthed Thinking

    April 20

    Ahhhh...finally

It's so nice to put pictures of the sun in here instead of snow and ice. It's been a beautiful day on this sunny Sunday. I spent most of the day outside. I got my cushions out for my swing on the deck and sat out there and read an entire book. And they say tomorrow is going to be a carbon copy of today. I have my doors and windows open and it is just perfect.

It's been a pretty quiet weekend for the most part. My son came to get his mail since he hasn't changed his address for every place yet. It was nice to see him and Toni. I met her other son for the first time and he seems very nice. She's a good mom and the boys sure seem to love and respect her a lot. When my son and her were just dating the boys sent him a text message and told him that if their mom and him ever started dating, that' it's OK with them and that they approve lol. I thought that was sweet. Her boys are the same with her as my kids are with me. They never leave the house without a hug and kiss and a I love you before they go. It seems she's done a very good job with them. They sure seem to be very happy together and of course that makes us happy.

Bill is losing it. When winter set in and we were putting things away, he took the cushions to the swing and the top off the swing and put them away. Well, he can't find the top. We looked everywhere and can't find it anywhere. Then he started getting things ready to go up north turkey hunting next week, and now he can't find the binocular pouch the kids got him for Christmas. I sure don't know where he put them. I've looked all over the house and they aren't in here. If you saw his garage though you'd understand lol. I don't know how he finds anything in there. It's lucky I can find my car lol. He's a pack rat and hates to throw anything away. When I start cleaning here and throw things out I've caught him taking them out of the trash and taking it out to the garage lol. I feel sorry for the kids when we are dead and gone and they have to clean up and sell the house lol. Oh well, what are ya gonna do? Wink

I have some things to get done before Big Brother and Desperate Housewives come on, so I better get at it. I hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend and that you have a great Monday. See ya later!!!

    April 17

    Did you know

    Photobucket

That you can now get free phone number information through Google. Right now you can only get info for businesses and not residential numbers but it's totally free. It's a great idea especially if you're traveling. Just dial 1-800-466-4411. It's automated so you don't talk to a person but it's asks you for the city and business and if it didn't understand you just say back and repeat the info and it will come back with the number you're looking for.The best part is it's FREE! Not like the phone company's where they charge you for information. I bet they aren't too happy with Google right now.

I lied to you the other day so I now I must confess. I didn't clean out my fridge when I said I was going to lol. So I did it last night. I tried putting it off but I just couldn't any longer. You won't believe how much food I had to throw out ;(. I'm having a hard time learning how to cook for 2 lol. When our son was still with us I didn't have to worry about leftovers. Now we have leftovers for days, and let me tell you after about the 2nd day I'm pretty sick of it. Anyway, my fridge is pretty inside again but it's empty too lol.

Not too much going on here to talk about so I am off to find something to do lol. Before I go though, here's a giggle for you.

    Genealogy explained
A little girl asked  her mother: "How did the human
    race begin?"
The mother  answered: "God made the first man named
Adam and then created a woman named Eve. He blessed
them to have many children, and so began mankind."
A few days later the girl asked her father the same
question:       "How did the human race begin?"
The father answered:  "Many years ago there was a
big bang that caused some weird cellular growths
that over time developed into monkeys from which the
    human race evolved."
The confused girl returned to her mother and said:
"Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human
race was created b y God, and Dad said we developed
    from monkeys?"
The mother answered:  "Well, dear, it is very simple.
I told you about my side of the family and your
    father told you about his."

I heard on the news last night that the place my son and son-in-law works is going to lay off over 200 people. I'm pretty sure my son-in-law will get it but I'm not sure about my son. I called my son and he told me they were going to have a meeting at work and he will find out then what is going on. This just makes me sick. Both of them bought new houses last year and my daughter is expecting, so this is the last thing they need. I told Bill last night that if this keeps up we'll have all the kids back home. Even though I laughed at the time it really isn't funny. I sure hope they both are able to stay but I have my doubts.   Every single day this shows up in my stats and for the life of me I don't know who it is.

They come several times a day but never leaves a comment. I thought that when I went private I could figure it out but so far I can't. I don't mind them coming to my space but I sure wish they would say something. And why come so many times in one day? What are they looking for? If anyone has a suggestion on how I can find out who they are I'll sure appreciate it. I have a stat tracker but that doesn't tell me much. When you click on it all it does is take you too a blog that I wrote a long time ago and have since deleted from my space. But once something is published publicly it's there for eternity. And for that reason I'm going to stay private. They must have put that blog in their favorites and keep using that to come here. So, whoever you are please say something and leave me a comment. Of course now that I said that they will think they are being pretty sly and never say anything lol.   Well I'm hungry so I'm off to get me some breakfast.
    Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Not a winner but had lots of fun

    Photobucket

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend so far!

I sure had a good time yesterday on the bus trip to the casino. It sure felt good to get out for awhile and do something different. I didn't win but I didn't lose much either. I came home with over half the money I went with so I consider that a good day. Not too many that went won but a couple did. My niece who went for the first time won about $400.00. I guess you would call that beginners luck wouldn't you? Isn't that the way it always goes? You go for the first time, win a few hundred and that makes you want to go again lol. Another friend of ours won about $800.00 so I was happy for him too. He's the luckiest guy though. It seems he's won something every time we've gone. Some people are just lucky that way. Oh I did win $20.00 on a dice game we play in the bus on the way down lol. It's not a bad deal though. It costs $10.00 which includes the bus ride down and you also get a lunch buffet. Normally I don't like buffet's but it was really good there.

All in all I had fun and it was a good day.

I can't wait for tonight when the new episodes of Desperate Housewives starts. I have the DVR all set and ready to record (Thanks sis for the idea lol). I will most likely watch it but just in case we are gone sometime I'll know I won't miss it. You can watch it on the Internet but It's just not the same as watching it on a big screen.

Well, that's all I can think of to talk about today so I guess I'll go find something else to do. I went to the library the other day and got some  books so I might go read for awhile. Years ago I read this book called Donnie Brasco., My Life in the Mafia. It's about a FBI agent who infiltrated the mafia and worked undercover for 6 years. He did so well pretending to be a criminal that they almost made him a "made man" in the mob. His real name is Joseph Pistone and I would call him a very brave man. The things he went through is amazing. He missed a lot of his family things because he would have to go for months without seeing them. Can you imagine doing that for 6 long years? Well when I went to the library yesterday I was surprise to see he has written 3 or 4 more books. The ones I got yesterday are titled "Unfinished Business" and "The Way of the Wiseguy". A movie was made about him years ago. The book was much better of course, they usually are, but the movie was pretty good. The FBI had to end his undercover work when the mob boss ordered him to make a "hit". When the FBI went to the mob and told them that Donnie was an undercover agent they couldn't believe it. Many of them thought they were lying until they showed them pictures of them standing all together. Of course the mob put a "hit" out on Pistone but they were warned to stay away from him. The mob boss wasn't so lucky though. The other boss's had him killed for letting a agent get so close to them. Agent Pistone and his family have changed their names and are living a peaceful life somewhere here in America. He's been on the Oprah show though and the biography channel had a episode of him as well. He's a hero in my opinion and the reason the mafia isn't what it use to be years ago.

Ok, I'm off to read my book lol.

    Have a great day!

    Going to the casino

Twice a year the little bar we go to hires a bus for anyone who wants to go to the casino in Iowa. Ive gone before but this time I decided I wasn't going to go and just didn't feel like it. My luck has been lousy and I was tired of going and losing. I never take much with me to lose but I was even tired of losing that little bit. They have a sign-up sheet and anyone who comes into the bar can sign up. A few weeks ago I was up there and they were talking about the trip and I mentioned that I didn't put my name on the list. My sister told me that the bus is full and that there is a waiting list of people who want to go if someone backs out. I said good because I didn't want to go anyway.

OK, here's the strange part. My other sister called me the other day and said you still owe the $10.00 for the bus trip. I told her I never signed up to go and she said well your name is on there. Someone else, maybe the bar owners perhaps, must have put my name on there. That's the only thing I can think of. They might have gone ahead and put my name on as I have gone before. So, now I guess I'm going lol. I know I don't have to because there are a lot of people who didn't get there in time to sign up and would be happy to take my place. But now I'm thinking it could mean I am meant to go lol so I went up last night and paid the $10.00. Is that silly or what. At any rate I know I will have fun. The group that goes are fun people and I always enjoy myself when I go.

So wish my luck on Saturday!!!

What a strange morning we've had. It started out bright and sunny and all of a sudden it turned kind of yellow looking and now it's raining cats and dogs. Well, at least it isn't snow. The river though is really high and we don't need anymore rain right now. Some of the piers are underwater and it's getting closer and closer to the road. We do live in the widest part of the river so I hate to see how it looks in other areas. Bummer, I just went and looked at the forecast and it's suppose to rain all day. Tomorrow they say a inch of snow!!! Please say it isn't so lol, I don't want anymore snow.

Well I'm going to go wash away my gray hair lol.

    Have a great day Y'all

    Desperate Housewives'

DH@ Hey girls don't forget Desperate Housewives' starts tonight. I think tonight's show will be a recap of the past season and the new episodes starts on Sunday night. It's about darn time if you ask me lol. Blame it on the writer's that we've had to wait so long. I do believe I could even watch re-runs of this show. Ok, I guess you could say I'm hooked. I admit it. If you lived on Wisteria Lane which one of the Housewives' would you be? I'd probably be Lynette. You know, the homemaker, the mom and faithful wife. I'm probably not as organized as she is but I know I'm as strong as she is. I think we all have friends who could play any one of those roles don't you? I know I do lol. Anyway I'm just glad it's back on.

The weather has been crappy all week. On the news they said we could get up to 2 inches of rain today and Friday. The river is so high right now that we sure don't need any rain. I haven't seen it this high ever and I've lived here since I was a kid. Rain here and snow up north so I guess it's going to be crappy state wide. Oh well what can we do about besides complain lol. And I do plenty of that.

The groundhog that was here in our yard last summer is back again but it looks like he's been hurt. He is dragging his back legs behind him. I don't know if he's been shot or what but he's not looking good and I don't know what to do about it. A injured animal is a dangerous animal and I really don't want him around here. They can be pretty mean healthy. I might call the DNR or animal rescue and see what they suggest we do.

I've been busy loading music on the computer again. I wasn't going to bother because you can listen to any type of music you want here on the Internet but my son gave me his old Ipod and I want to put music on that. Him and William got one of those new fan-dangled Ipods that you just touch with your finger to pick what you want. It's basically like the Iphone only not a phone. You know how they like the new stuff that comes out and someone at school stole Williams other MP3 player. But hey I'll take the old one. It's better then what I had and I don't care if it's all fancy and stuff lol.

Speaking of school kids, did you see that report on those cheerleaders beating up another cheerleader? My God they really beat her up good. What in the world is the matter with kids, especially girls today? It's said that they were mad because she was talking trash about them on her myspace and through text messages. Now you're not going to tell me that none of those other girls have ever talked trash about anyone. And then to be so stupid as to tape it! I just don't get it. Then one of the mothers tried to minimize it and of course HER daughter didn't beat on her, she just let them do it at their house. Ridiculous. Oh and then 2 boys were standing outside the door as "look-outs" Now these kids aren't young 13 or 14 year old kids, they all are 17 and older. Certainly old enough to know better. I hope they get everything they can give them. Maybe that way other kids will know what they got they might think twice before they do anything so stupid. It's pretty sad that they thought it was ok to do that to that girl.

Now on the Today show this morning they showed another clip taken on a cell phone by a student where another girl student starting beating up her teacher. Can you believe that! What in the world is going on? Why do these kids think it's ok to do that.? My kids would never have thought of doing something like that. They knew they would be in big trouble if they behaved like that. It seems kids today are not afraid of anything or anyone. Is it the parents fault? I just don't know. But I know one thing, kids need to be disciplined and they need to be afraid of the consequences they will face if the do things like this like I was when I was a kid and like my kids were when they were young.

Wishing all of you a wonderful day! Make it a good one.

    A beautiful weekend.

It was a beautiful weekend around here. I even got some raking done, not all but some. We have a big yard and it takes awhile to do the whole thing. I plan on doing some more today because it's suppose to rain tomorrow and I want to get it done. If the wind settles down that is. But then again the temperature has dropped about 10 degrees this morning already so I might reconsider raking.

I went up to see my son's apartment yesterday and it's a cute little place. They wanted me to wait until they got settled in more and had a chance to get things the way they like them. His girlfriend was still at work when I got there but she got home a little bit later. They live on the second floor and have a great porch off the kitchen. That's where I'd be spending most of my time in the summer I tell ya.

He seems really happy and that makes me happy. She's a sweet girl and a hard worker and seems to care a lot for my son. It wouldn't surprise me if they get married some day and that would be fine with me. Bill and the rest of the kids likes her too and she fits in well in the family.

My daughter and hubby took their kids and went to a turkey expo in Madison on Saturday. I was surprised to learn they have all kinds of animals there for you too see. Once more you can have your picture taken with them , so the kids of course wanted to do that. Her son got his picture taken with a baby wolf.  Josh

Her daughter being a bit more timid wanted mom to be with her so she's holding a baby black bear and mom is holding a baby grizzly Devan

That's an experience they'll never forget. How often do you get to hold a wild animal like that. I think it's pretty cool.

Speaking of grandchildren. William is taking his driving course now. He's just started so it will be awhile before he actually gets his license but do you know how nervous I'm going to be. I don't think I'll want to know when he goes anywhere for awhile lol. I taught all of our kids to drive and it's not fun lol. Their dad took them out once and they said no more of that lol. He made them nervous. They don't have driver's Ed. in school anymore like they use too when I got my license and when my kids got theirs. And it's a lot more expensive now too...$300.00 compared to about 50 like it use to be. I hate to think what the insurance is going to cost when he actually gets his license. I know it's going to be sky high. I'm sure glad I don't have to pay for it lol.

Bill just got home and said there a lot more Pelicans down on the river today then there were the other day, so I might have to go down and take a look see. But first I have to get dressed. So have a good Monday and I'll be around later to see how your weekend went.

    Pelicans

    Happy Saturday!

Yesterday my sister called to tell me there were a flock of swans down on the river near us. So off I go with my camera to try to get some pictures. Well, my sister is not a very good natrualist lol. They are not swans but they are Pelicans. I have lived here by the river for many many years now and this is the first time I have ever seen pelicans here. Along with the pelicans were some other birds but I couldn't make out what they were. Then later in the afternoon when we were coming home from my daughters we again drove along the river and it was so cool. There were a whole bunch of pelicans flying in to join the others. It was so neat to see them come in like that but sadly I didn't have my camera with me then. I am going to walk down later to see if they are still there and hope I can get a better picture. They were way across the river and even though I zoomed in it was hard to get them up close and personal. I am putting a picture in I got yesterday though and if they are still there and if I get a better picture I'll post that one too

Today is a beautiful day with temps heading for the 60's, just the way I like it. I think I will go out and start doing some yard work just to be out and enjoy the weather.
So have a wonderful Saturday kids and go out and do something fun.

    Have a good weekend!

    Girls Night Out

After being sick last week and not going anywhere the week before I was so ready to get out of the house so I went up to the bar for awhile last night. Not all of the girls were out but my sisters were and that always makes for a fun night. We talked we laughed and joked around like only sisters can do. It sure felt good to get out for awhile.

We have to pick up my daughters mother-in-law from dialysis again and and take her home. My daughter has to have another sonogram to make sure everything is hunky dory with the baby so they asked us to pick her up. I wonder what I'm going to do wrong this time that she will tell Jon that I did. I swear if the phone rings it can just ring. I would be willing to bet that if we just take her home, get her in the house and leave right away, there will still be something that she will feel is wrong that I did.

Bill is going up north turkey hunting the end of the month and I don't know whose looking forward to it more, him or me lol. This will be the very first time I actually was home alone in years. Before our youngest son was still living with us but now that he's moved out it will be just me. I wonder if I'll hear strange noises that scare me lol. When the kids were small and he was gone I swear I heard all kinds of strange things bumping in the night lol. Maybe it was the fact that it was just me here to protect my kids. That's a daunting thought you know. One time when my second oldest was about 16 someone knocked on our door about 1 in the morning. I'm a night person and am usually still watching tv then. Anyway I did answer the door but it was a young man about my sons age whose friends had been drinking and he didn't want to ride with them and needed to use the phone to call home. Normally I would have offered to make the call for him but this time I let him in. I keep thinking what if that was one of my kids who needed help. So I let him use the phone. He called his mom and left. But my son had a fit that I did that. I know I was taking a chance but something told me this kid was just like one of my own. They say to always follow your gut instinct and my gut told me this kid was a good kid. The next day he came back with his mom to thank me for letting him in and use the phone. As it turned out those friends of his were in a car accident later that night. None of them died in the accident but 2 were seriously hurt. They recovered but it took them about 6 months to heal from their injuries. I think about that every now and then. How proud his mom must have been that this young man made the choice not to stay with his friends. It gave me goose bumps when they came and told me what happened.

Well I better get busy and do something constructive around here. It's vacuuming day and my fridge needs cleaning again. I hate cleaning that thing lol but it needs to be done.

So have a good weekend and go out and do something fun.

    Ta Ta for now.

I sure wish this was my house lol.

Well since everyone is posting pictures of there little corner of cyber space I figured I might as well share mine too. It is nice to see how each of us comes to visit each day. So here's mine...desk 002 I'd really like to get a smaller desk as this one takes up so much room. But I guess it will do for now.

What I'd really like to do is get another computer. It seems that when I'm working on scrapbooks I always find I need to print out a different picture or I want to check out a website or look up quotes for the page I'm working on. But when I'm doing that Bill is on the computer so I can't do what I need to do until he's done. If we had another one I wouldn't have to wait. It would be a silly expense though when I think of it. It's not like we use it for a job or anything of major importance. So I will just struggle along with having only one computer lol.

Here's a fun little thing to do. I tried it and it works. William was here the other day and being a 16 year old boy he was skeptical and you should have seen the look on his face when he did it. Give it a try...

    YOUR AGE BY EATING OUT

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

    DON'T CHEAT
    BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read .
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.
    1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to
    go out to eat.
(more than once but less than 10)
    2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
    3. Add 5
    4. Multiply it by 50
    5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...
    If you haven't, add 1757.
    6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number
The first digit of this was your original number. (I.e., How many times
you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

    The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS
