A Fun time at school!

We were suppose to be at school at 12 o'clock. We only live 2 minutes from school so we left home at 11:45. Evidently Devan was getting nervous because we weren't there yet. We're walking down the hall looking for her room when we see her coming to meet us. She said grandma I was starting to think you wasn't coming. I'd told her the day before we would definitely be there but I suppose since there were a lot of grandparents there already she was thinking we forgot. I told her we would never forget something that important.

 EOf course there are 4 others who are just as important.

Kids are so cute and they get so excited when family is there to see what they have learned. Their teacher had the children draw pictures of their grandparents and write a story about them. Then they each got to stand in front of us all and read what they wrote. Some of them talked so soft that you couldn't hear what they had written but we all clapped as thought we heard every word. I had to laugh at one little boy. All he wrote is that my grandma gives me anything I want lol. We were sitting kind of off to the side of the room and they teacher called on kids who raised their hands. Because we were to the side of her Devan was getting frustrated because she raised her hand every time but the teacher didn't see her. When she finally got her chance I was afraid she would be hard to hear too because she's so shy but she read nice and loud.

Here's what she wrote.

"My grandparents are special to me. My one grandma lives with us. she can knit without looking. It is cool. My other grandma is good at cooking. Grandpa watches TV and works around the house. Sometimes my grandma takes us to the part. At the par there is a big slide. I love my grandparents a lot."

I'm so glad this is showing up as good as it looks to me anyway. When I first scanned it and looked at it you could barely see it. But then I went into photosuite and enhanced ,it made all of it show up. I was so afraid that you wouldn't be able to see how she made the clouds in the middle of the picture spell "love" She showed me another one she had hanging on the wall where she did that in that picture too. 

When all the kids were finished reading their grandparent stories they were then allowed to pick out a book to read to us. She's really getting quite good if I must say so myself. One little boy didn't have anyone there for him so Bill had him read him a story. It breaks my heart for the kids who don't have someone that can come to school for them for things like that. Poor little guy! They even had lemonade and cookies for us. Boy, those cookies were good! I bet they were homemade because you just can't buy chocolate chip cookies that taste that good.

When it was all over and time to go Devan didn't want us to leave. For a minute I really thought she was going to cry. Thank goodness it was time for recess and after about a dozen hugs and kisses she ran off to go play. I told her I was going to put her picture and story on my refrigerator and that brought a smile to her face. The kids don't know it but I save just about all there pictures. I put the date on them, the grade they were in, their age and if need be the occasion. Lots of them though are ones they drew here just messing around so I give those a title. Someday they'll get a kick out of them.

Good Rainy Wednesday Morning!

I predict that Jordin and Melinda will be the final two in American Idol. I don't know what's happened to Lakisha, if it's her song choices or what but she isn't sounding as good to me as she did at first. She's still good and will most likely get a contract but as far as being the American Idol it isn't going to happen. Did you guys call in last night? I did for awhile but then I fell asleep. I hope they reached the 50 million they were hoping for! It's for a great cause.

Today is grandparents day at school and Devan called me yesterday to remind us. She's so excited about it because she said she has a present for me. I love going to those things. I wish Brianna's and Eric's school did that but they don't. Maybe when they move next month the new school will do that. I hope so. Sometimes I go and eat lunch with them too and they really enjoy that. Come to think of it I haven't done that for awhile so it's about time I did again. Maybe I'll do that when I get back from my trip. Brianna only wants her mom to eat lunch wit h her though. Not even her dad, she says it will be embarrassing lol. Can you imagine a kindergartner worrying about being embarrassed. She's a silly peanut!

I'll be back later to tell you how grandparents day went and let you know what present Devan had for me. But right now I'm hungry so I'm going to go eat my oatmeal and wheat toast breakfast that I have every morning. Try and bhave yourselves while I"m gone!

I know some of you look forward to Fridays but around here one day is the same ast the next pretty much. I highly recommend it, you should try it lol. Ok, I know I'm rubbing it in. But it is nice to know that you can do what you want, when you want and where you want lol!  No, I'm not rubbing it in, I'm just letting you know what you have to look forward too. 

We are going to have a beautiful weekend with temps in the 70's Yay! Great time for a walk. I need to find a new place to walk. There is a rotary garden in Janesville and there are so many plants and flowers there that when they bloom I might go there. Just for a different view of things. We went to a wedding there years ago. In fact it was Fairy Princess's wedding, and it was very pretty. They got married in the gazebo there and it was quite nice. So that's my plan for later this spring.

My shoe shopping yesterday didn't go well at all. There was a pair that I liked but they didn't have them in white or black. I need something that I can wear with anything ya know. Not pink or brown or purple for heavens'sake.  It's still a couple weeks away so I have time.  I went to Rogan's first and then I went to Walmart and let me tell you, they have the worst selection of shoes in the world. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing most of them. Shopko's are a little better but I still didn't see anything there that I liked. I'm just too fussy I guess. But I want something comfortable.

I was able to find some things I wanted for my trip though. I've been looking for a small package of wet ones. I like taking them with me, you never know when you'll need them. I just happened to see them at the checkout line. and some zip lock plastic bags. You need those now to put all your liquids in if you're going to fly. And your shampoos and lotions etc can't be over 3 oz. Security ya know. Oh and some new slippers. I'm pretty set and ready to go except for the shoes.

Well I'm having a devil of a time posting this, it keeps freezing up. Besides, I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm getting hungry. So TTFN and I'll be around to see you.

Happy Thursday

I Just got home from taking William to school and now I'm sitting here eating my breakfast. I eat the same thing just about every single morning, oatmeal and wheat toast. Unless that is if Bill and I don't go out for breakfast. We do that at least once a week when I go with him to take William to school. I don't go every morning but I like to go a couple of times just to help do somethings around their apartment. Everyone needs a helping hand once in awhile and Billy works 10 hours a day. So I do what I can.

About American Idol

Finally finally finally Sanjaya was voted off. I actually kind of felt sorry for him. I really think that he thought he had a chance to win this thing. You can blame the vote for the worst people for that. In my opinion they were playing with his head, his heart and his emotions. It's sad really and rude to do that to someone. He had to know about that site and what people were doing so I wonder what he thought of that. I'd be so humiliated. I'm sure he's a nice kid and didn't deserve to be treated that way and to be toyed with like that. You know when him and his sister auditioned I was shocked to hear Simon say he was better then his sister. I thought she was good. There were quite a few who I thought was good and they thought they were terrible. Makes me wonder if I have a tin ear lol.

I was really surprised that Lakisa was in the bottom two. I thought sure it would be Sanjaya of course, but I really thought it would be either Phil or Chris. Sure Lakisha didn't do that great this week with Carrie Underwoods song but she's 1000 times better then those other two. Next week is going to be good with all those stars on. And it's for a great cause so if you've never voted maybe we should next week. I think they get a certain about of money for each vote called in. I think I'm going too.

I'm going to go out with the girls tonight for awhile. It's Audry's birthday so we are gathering at the bar for a few drinks. Other then that I haven't been doing much with Bill being gone. Just kind of enjoying the quiet and not having to do anything. Saturday I have a wedding reception to go to. I love wedding receptions! We always have so much fun at those. I love to dance anyway so I never miss one if I can help it. The only problem with that though is they always start up with that heavy metal rock crap. You can't dance to that music, and hardly anyone ever does. It's not until they start playing the 50's & 60's music that you see people get up and dance. Ever notice that? Swing dance is my favorite but I'm out of practice for that and besides no one else around here does it anymore. They all say they're too old. I told Bill the other night when I was watching Dancing With the Stars that we should take ballroom dance lessons. I think it would be fun. However, I think he thought I was joking. Maybe someday!

As you can see I'm having fun using backgrounds now that I know how. I think though I have to find some without too much in it. I realize it's kind of hard to read but I'm not going to start this post over again. So please bare with me and I promise to keep looking.

I'm testing, I've always want to know how to get different backgrounds on my posts and thanks to carol I think I have it figured out. Not only that I'm going to try to add a picture in here as well. Wish me luck! Ok gotta try again as the picutre was beneath the background. Here goes one more time Nope it still doesnt appear to be working. I guess I'll have to keep trying.I did it! I did it. You have to make sure you put the code behind the last word you wrote!!

Now I would like to know how to change the background of my entire site. Not just the posting box.
