March 31 Some people!
I saw on the news this morning that there’s another little girl missing in California. I pray they find her and that she’s ok. I will never understand why people hurt children and what they get out of it. They will surely rot in hell and I wish I could put them there. It’s not a very nice day here. We have wind and rain and that makes for a chilly day. It’s definitely a stay inside day. Oh I just remembered something else that happened yesterday while I was shopping. When I was done and leaving to go home I heard my passenger door rattle. I stopped and pulled over, got out and went around to check on the door and it was open, someone had been in my car. I thought sure I locked it when I got out as I always do so I don’t know what happened. I have a remote lock so maybe it didn’t work. I did read the other day that someone sitting near has something that can intercept your code off the remote locks and then be able to unlock your car. Maybe that’s what happened but it gave me the creeps. I didn’t have anything in my car to steal so that’s a good thing. At night I always check the back seat before I get in it and now I will make double sure I do that. Ok, wishing you all a great day. Time for me to get busy.
March 30 My computer surroundingsHere’s my little window to the world where I go to come and visit all of you. And yes I did clean it up but it’s not my fault, it’s Carol Dee’s fault. When I saw hers and saw the piece of wood under her monitor it reminded me of a slab of marble that I had sitting on my kitchen table that took up more room then I liked, so seeing hers gave me the idea to put it under my monitor. So I did. I’ve had it for a long time but I have no idea where it came from. We use to have a shed in the backyard and it was in there when we moved in. So before we tore down the shed I kept it and brought it in the house. So, thank you Carol for giving me the idea of putting it to a better use. Here’s a better view of the marble slab. So Hi from my house to yours I did the dumbest thing the other day. I want new curtains for our dining room and the other day Shopko was having a 50% off sale. So, I run up there and found some curtains that I liked, bought them and brought them home. I got home and guess what. I have those very same curtains in the kitchen lol. Needless to say I am taking them back and am going to keep looking. It seems that I’ve been looking forever and can’t seem to find just what I want. I’ll know it when I see them though. I did think of keeping them and buying new ones for the kitchen though. My kitchen has only one window where the dining room has 3 so I might be smarter to do it that way. I haven’t decided yet what I’ll do. Ok, I’m late getting going today so I’ll just end this by wishing you all a super great day! March 27 For your entertainment
We went to Devan’s school for her spring concert and I loved it. She’s the one in the brown hate between the girl in the pink shirt and the one in black. Kids sure love to perform and they have so much fun doing it. Since my daughter works nights I recorded a lot of it and will put both hers and Josh’s on cd so she can see it all. This song was just one they sang but I got most of them. Not much else to talk about. I don’t want to talk about the weather and tell you that it’s cold and we are suppose to get about 6 inches of snow over the weekend. Nope, I don’t want to tell you that so I won’t Wishing you all a fun and happy weekend! Hugs March 25 Ho Hum
Since it was so nasty yesterday I did some scrapping. I haven’t done any for awhile so I’m still working on Christmas pictures. I did some a while ago but looking at them last night I’m not too happy with them so I might do them over. the ones I did last night turned out pretty good though. I have a roast out to cook for dinner tonight. I’m not sure if I want to cook the potato’s with it or boil them for mashed potato’s. I like them both ways so I’m in a dilemma lol. I love potato’s and can eat them in any form you can make them into. That’s one of my downfall’s and weaknesses. For awhile Bill kept bringing home big bags of chips when he went to the store. He knows how much I love potato chips. I never buy them because I know I’ll sit and eat the whole bag and I’ve told him before not to but he thought he was doing something nice for me. And he did the same thing with chocolate. He’d bring home bags full of chocolate stars, 2 at a time. Finally the other day I asked him if he was trying to get me fat…ter. He said that he knew I like them and that’s why. I told him not do it anymore. If I get a craving I’ll go buy a small bag of chips or a candy bar and that should do the trick…right? I’m a bit worried that my summer clothes won’t fit and I sure don’t want to have to buy new ones. So, it’s cutting down for me for awhile. If the weather would cooperate I’d even start walking again. I know that’s no excuse as I could go to the mall and walk but that’s not me.If I’m going to walk I want it to be outside where there’s something to see and admire. Time to get with it. See ya later and I hope you all have a great day! I mean that! March 24 Rain rain go away
Enough said about that lol. Since it’s so nasty outside it’s a good day to accomplish some thing in here. What that will be is as of yet to be decided lol. There’s a lot of cleaning that needs to be done but that’s no fun. I’ll figure it out sooner or later. Friday we went to Eric’s spring concert. I know I told you that already but I didn’t put the pictures in the album yet but here’s one of him on stage. Those kids sure had fun putting on this program. I wish I could have recorded the whole thing because it was the cutes thing. I love going to the things the kids do at school.
Last night we went to Josh’s band concert. They had all the bands performing, not just Josh’s group. I must say they did pretty darn good. His was first as it’s their first year and I was pleasantly surprised. I actually thought his group did better then the 6th graders but then I might be a little biased lol. Here’s Josh with his trombone. I scanned all the old pictures my cousin gave to me yesterday. It was fun going through them. Now all I have to do is print them out and scrap them. Since they are mostly black and white I have some great paper to put them on. Here’s one of them. Wanna see our wedding picture lol. Bill was a hottie back then. Well, he still is today but there’s just a little more of him lol. Well I’ve lolly-gaited enough for awhile so I better get busy. First though I must come and visit those of you I haven’t gotten too yet. I hope your day is nicer then ours and that the sun is shining brightly. See ya soon! March 23 My weekendWell it’s the beginning of another week and a rainy one here. It’s cloudy and windy with rain predicted tonight and over the next couple of days. We don’t need it but it’s better then snow. I didn’t get on the computer much at all over the weekend. I guess I just wasn’t in the mood. Do you ever get like that? I really didn’t do much at all to be honest. Friday we went to Eric’s spring concert and that was a lot of fun. The music teacher is great! She has them do fun things that the kids enjoy doing. I did take a short video that I will get loaded later and put some photos in here as well when I get them on the computer. It was fun and funny, I loved it! Saturday I went over to Jodi’s for awhile to play with Ryker. He’s such a doll and growing so fast. I usually do go over there for awhile when she has him as I want him to know me. Then yesterday my daughter and her kids came down for awhile so I got to see those kids too. Speaking of getting big, Brody is really growing. He’s such a sweetie and has a wonderful personality. He’s so content and happy and only cries when he’s wet or hungry. They sure got lucky with him. While they were here Rhonda called from the bar and said my cousin was there with old pictures she wanted me to see. So after the kids left I ran up there to see what she had. They were old old pictures of our parents when they were young and newly married and pictures of us when we were small and even some of my wedding pictures. I' brought some of them home with me to scan them and make copies which I will do in a little bit. Tonight is Josh’s band concert at 7 so that’s were we’ll be tonight. Then on Thursday is Devan’s spring concert. So no thirsty Thursday for me this week. That’s ok though. I could never disappoint the kids and not show up if it is in my control. Everyday lately I’ve been getting those personal messages from those scam artist’s saying they want me to help them get money from someone who died. You know the kind, I’m sure some of you are getting them too. This one says it is the second time he’s messaged me and wants my full name and address, phone number, email address, occupation and date of birth. It says I have the same last name as the person who died so therefore I’m the ONLY one who can accept this transaction lol. Sounds like he’s getting hinky as he put this in the bottom of the message… This transmission may contain information that is privileged, confidential and exempt from disclosure under applicable law. Thank you. I guess because he saw on my profile that I’m 1) a women and 2) that I’m 62 that he thinks I’d be an easy target. Well I got news for this jerk, this women hasn’t lost all of her capabilities yet. I’ve been reporting them each time I get one but they just keep coming. So, I keep reporting them and hitting the delete button. And no way am I going to contact the sender to let him know that I’m not interested. I wasn’t born yesterday! So, that’s what I’ve been up too and now I’m on my way to catch up with all of you to see what you’ve been up too. You have been good….haven’t you
March 19 A RoseI have published this poem almost every year since I started blogging on Mom’s birthday. Those of you who have been to Terry’s know that today is her birthday and I snagged this photo from her page. The poem was written for mom by my neighbor and good friend of ours Leland and it couldn’t be more perfect.
Needed in heaven to fill a bouquet. Tenderly taken with the greatest of love. And carried to that heavenly home up above. Tho tears fill our eyes where the rose once grew. It’s memory lingers longest in the new morning dew. Never again to be kissed by the rain. Only to bloom in that far away land. Give beauty to God’s garden as only it can. As you remember the rose with each passing day. Remember the love that it spread in it’s way. When you walk in the garden with sadness and pain. Knowing the rose will never bloom there again. Reach out and embrace all of God’s love. For the rose now watches from heaven above.
March 17 Almost too lateTo wish all of you a very Happy St. Patrick’s day.
Today was my mom’s favorite day of the year. She always said there are two kids of people, those who are Irish and those who wish they were. One year she decided she wanted to have a float in the parade and have all of their grandchildren ride on the float with her. When mom got something in her head there was no use trying to change her mind so dad and all of us girls and our husbands got busy building mom a float. We borrowed a neighbors snowmobile trailer and painted it green. I had a huge rock in our yard that we put on the trailer to use as the blarney stone, we built a rainbow to go across the float and decorated it with shamrocks and streamers. The day of the parade she was as excited as a kid at Christmas. We put a chair on the trailer for mom to sit on and then all the kids climbed on and sat all around her and off they went. I don’t know how had more fun, us watching her or her and the kids. After the parade was over we decided we wasn’t ready to quit celebrating so we took all the kids to my cousins house whose kids were also on the float and had her daughter babysit for us. Then off we went to the pub where all the other parade people were going and proceeded to enjoy the day. One of our state Senators was there so we had fun joking around with him and I asked him if he could fix a parking ticket because I thought I might be parked illegally, he laughed and said sure. I wasn’t but I just thought I’d ask just in case we go somewhere else lol. From there we went to another little place that was called the Mickey Mouse at the time. It was just mom and us girls that had actually gone to the parade as our husbands had to work and when us girls got together with mom we always had so much fun. Anyway, we go to this other place and when we walk in there was a man there that my husband worked with and we were joking around with him until he leaves. A little while after he left the phone rang and the bar tender said it was for me. I thought who in the world is calling me here. I answer the phone and this guy says he is a police officer and that there is a float registered in my name sitting somewhere ( I don’t remember now where he said it was) and that I had better come and get it or it will be towed. You see, I had the trailer hitched to the back of my car still and so I knew this guy was trying to pull a fast one. He tried to tell me he was a cop that I knew had retired and didn’t work anymore and some other stuff that I knew wasn’t right so I figured it was someone trying to be funny. After our husbands got home from work we called them to have them join us and when they got there they asked me where the float was. I said on the car. No, it’s not they said, It’s gone. It wasn’t on my car anymore, someone had stolen it lol. We figured it was the guy who worked with Bill so when I got home I figured two can play this game. I looked up his phone number and called him and pretended to be the police dispatcher and told him that someone called them and said they he had stolen a float off a car at the bar and that they were sending a police unit to his house to check. He sounded pretty nervous and said he didn’t have any float. Still pretending to be the dispatcher I told him that because a complaint has been filed that it had to be followed through and that there will be a officer there in a few minutes. Bill and I drove by his house after and it wasn’t there. Well, we were just sick about it because we had borrowed the trailer and they don’t come cheap. The next morning Jodi and I went out looking for it. You know how sometimes you just know something and you don’t know why you know it but you do? Well I decided to drive up to the ball diamond that’s not far from our house and there sitting in the parking lot is our float lol. We had so much fun that day and still laugh about it often. It was a little scary when the float went missing but now even that is funny lol. I have pictures around here somewhere with mom and all the kids sitting on the float and wished I knew right where it is so I could put it on here but I don’t. Anyway, Mom loved Saint Patrick’s Day and loved having fun and enjoying life. And she sure knew how to do that. Mom never met a stranger and everyone who met her loved her. She was one of a kind. Here’s to ya mom
March 15 OMG! OMG! OMG!
March 10 Blowing in the windI get so jealous when I visit some of you and read that you are having such great weather when we are still cold and wet. The above picture depicts what’s in store for us today. Supposedly we are in for some more rain and high winds. The winds could reach up to 40 mph which will make if feel much colder then what the temperature reads. Not only that we are also under a flood warning which is nothing I want to go through again. The river is high but it’s still in it’s banks and I doubt it will get like it did last year… I hope anyway. Where my daughter lives though their roads are flooding. She had to take an alternate way to get the kids to school yesterday. Their driveway is also flooded and it scared the kids a little. I know it’s only March and this isn’t unusual but I am so sick of the cold and the snow and rain. I want it to be gone…NOW lol. Yes, I’m whining but I can’t help it I will be babysitting tonight for awhile. Jon took his mom to the casino Sunday and she won big and they have to go back and get it. I guess her ID was expired and they wouldn’t give it to her so she had to go yesterday to get a new one. So we have to pick the kids up from school and sis will drop Brody off on her way to work. I tell ya, that women is so lucky. I don’t know how many times she’s won big at the casino but she wins more then she loses. Some people are just lucky I guess and I’m not one of them. The nice thing is, she’s going to give them the money for new tires on their truck which is badly needed. You know I don’t get it. When I renewed my drivers license they told me to hang on to the old one for identification purposes, so I did. One day while I was out shopping I was writing a check and they asked for ID. I grabbed what I thought was my DL but it was my old one and they wouldn’t except it because it was expired. So what’s the use of keeping it? The thing is though, it’s still mine with my picture and all on it and they aren’t a government agency or anything so what difference does it make to them if it’s expired or not. All they need to see is that it is me right. I suppose they think someone else could be using it but my name and DL number is on my checks as well. I can see why the casino would want a current one for tax purposes and all but I don’t see the big deal when writing a check. Oh well, I guess we have to go with the flow. Please, those of you living where it’s nice and warm send it on up here will ya. I think you all are being pretty selfish keeping it to yourselves lol. March 09 The Baby of Horror movie.Jesse as you all know has been laid of from work so he’s the stay at home dad now. The other day him and the kids were playing and decided to make a movie. They had a lot of fun making this and I was told Saturday that there might be a sequel coming soon. So go get your popcorn and soda and enjoy the movie. Produced and directed by Jesse. Starring Eric and Brianna.
Josh had a great birthday party and the kids had fun bowling. He’s such a sweetie. Sis told him that since his uncles are all laid off that they won’t be able to afford to give him gifts like they had in the past. Do you know what he said? He said, that’s ok mom, I don’t care if they give me anything I just want them at my party. When she told me that tears came to my eyes. What a considerate 11 year old little boy he is. I’m so proud of him. It seemed like Brody had grown a foot since we saw him last. In a way he did. He had his six month check-up and he’s 17 pounds and 27 inches long already. He’s growing like a weed. Of course I grabbed him up the minute we walked into the bowling alley and gave him hundreds of grandma kisses. He’s such a good baby, all smiles and giggles and so content. He’s my precious little guy. Ok, time for me to do something. Don’t know what it is yet but it’ll come to me when I take a good look around lol. Enjoy your day spacers and I’ll see ya real soon. Oh…Happy Birthday to Barbie too, she turns 50 today and not a wrinkle to be found lol.
March 07 More stuff :)You can guess from the picture what it will be doing here today. We really don’t need any more moisture around here. The ground is still so saturated from the flood last year and snow this winter and it’s still frozen so the rain just puddles and makes a mess. So far the neighbor hasn’t turned on his hose yet but I bet as soon as the red light on the sewer pumping station comes on he will. You can bet we will be watching. I thought we were going to go eagle watching yesterday but once again our (my) plans fell through. One of these days come hell or high water we will go, just you wait and see! I didn’t even get to the dollar store like I’d planned and now I’m regretting that. It was a lot nicer out yesterday then it is today. You know what they say about putting things off till tomorrow lol. I can’t go today either as we have to leave in a little bit for Josh’s birthday party. There’s always tomorrow right? And the day after that and the day after that hehe. Last night we went to the airport for supper. It’s just a small county airport that’s just down the highway from us but they have a restaurant that serves very good food. We went for their fish fry and even though I’m not much for fish that was very good. Wisconsin is famous for our Friday night fish fry’s. When I worked at the restaurant people would come from as far away as Chicago for fish. I think people are still doing that because while we were there eating 5 little single engine airplanes flew in and they just came to eat. Most were adults but a couple planes were families with small children. It must be nice to decide to go out for dinner and hop in a plane to fly to another city or state just to go eat lol. I love airports! I could spend a whole day just sitting there watching the planes take off and land and watch the people there. I've always flown out of O'Hare airport whenever I've gone anywhere and I love that airport. People watching is favorite past time of mine actually. That’s why when we go out to eat I don’t mind it at all if they tell us there’s a wait. Life is interesting and so are people when you pay attention. Well I better got off of here and make sure my camera is charged and ready for Josh’s party. They are having it at the bowling alley so that will be fun watching the kids bowl. Of course I’ll take care of Brody so they can take care of the older kids. Not that they have a choice in the matter anyway lol. So I hope it’s nice where you are and are having a good day. C-ya! March 06 Just stuff
Yesterday I ran to the bank to get Josh his savings bond. He’s birthday is the 11th and his dad’s is the 10th so I have two more birthday’s this month. He asked me the other day if I was going to take him shopping. They always ask me that even though they know that’s what we do lol. I guess they just want to make sure. He'll be 11 so it won’t be long and he’ll be a teenager. I don’t think I’m ready for that lol. I think I’m going to go to the dollar store today and see what they have for Easter to make baskets for the little ones. I looked around at Shopko the other day but things were too high there. Of course the closer it gets the cheaper things will be but things will be picked over pretty much. Did you hear about Barbra Bush having open heart Surgery? I wish her a speedy recovery. I always liked her, she was the grandmotherly type and has a great smile. I was surprised though that none of her kids were there. It was at her request though so they were just doing what she wanted. I bet it was hard to stay away though, it would have been for me. We were all there when our dad had one and there when mom had surgery as well. But everyone does things there own way, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. I do wish her well and hope she’s back on her feet and feeling good soon. Well I’m off to start my day. Wishing you all a great day and a wonderful weekend. Hugs March 05 Happy Birthday Jesse!Today is our second oldest son’s birthday, he’s 39 today. We are so proud of him! He’s such a wonderful husband and father who takes wonderful care of his family. Where has the time gone? It’s so hard to believe that he’s a man with a family of his own. Wasn’t it just yesterday I brought him home from the hospital or sent him off to kindergarten? It sure seems that way sometimes. But I can’t be anymore proud of him then I am, it’s just not possible. So Happy Birthday Jesse! We love you so much and hope your birthday is as wonderful as you are. See ya on Saturday. March 04 Out of my windowLook at this guy who was sitting on the railing of our deck this morning. He’s a Marsh Hawk and imagine my surprise when I saw him out the back door window. He’s been around before sitting in the trees in our yard but has never come this close to the house. I was so afraid he would fly away before I could grab my camera and get his picture. I’m sure glad he was patient and posed for me lol. I went up to the hospital to visit Terry yesterday afternoon and she’s doing very well. I just talked to her on phone and the doctor was in and said she can come home this afternoon. Thanks again for your prayers and well wishes. It’s going to be great weather over the next few days. High’s in the 50’s and I’m doing the happy dance. I think since it’s going to be nice that I am going to wash my windows or most of them. At least the ones I look out the most anyway lol. They are so dirty from all the wind and rain and I can’t stand them. That’s the plan and I hope I can follow through with it. Ok, off to the shower for me. Have a great day and I’ll see ya soon. March 03 Terry update
I got a moral boost while I was there that of course I have to tell you about. I was sitting there with my beautiful niece Darla when the doctor came in to let us know she would be going up soon. He shook my hand and said Hi to Darla and me and asked if were twins or sister’s at least I’m on my way to your house. Hope you have the coffee on. March 02 Terry’s in the hospital![]() And is having surgery tomorrow to remove her gall bladder. I guess she’d been having pain since Friday but didn’t think too much about. She would vomit then felt better after so she thought it was just a stomach issue. Today though was another story. Her pains got to be pretty sever so she called Jack home from work to take her to the ER. Now for her to call and want to go to the hospital because of pain we know it has to be serious. She has a very high pain threshold and isn’t one to let it get to her. Usually she takes a couple pain relievers and she’s good to go. So Jack knew that it had to be bad for her to call him home from work as it’s not like her to complain too much. Their son Jared called Danielle to tell her and she called me. Needless to say I was surprised. The reason for that is they wasn’t sure at first if it was gall bladder or heart and when Danielle called me I got scared. She said when I got to the hospital that she told me it was gall bladder and not a heart attack but I thought she said that they wasn’t positive just what it was. That’s how I heard it and of course she was shook up and talking pretty fast so that’s what it sounded like she said to me. Thank God it is gall bladder and not heart. I am as we all are very grateful for that. We’re not sure what time her surgery will be tomorrow. She’s on some medication that thins her blood because of a stroke she had in her eye to prevent another stroke. For reason they have to give her platelets to thicken her blood up before they can do the surgery. I told her to tell them to take out everything she doesn’t need while they’re in there so she won’t have to come back again lol. The nurse thought that was a pretty good idea too hehe. So anyway…I thought I’d let you all know as you probably won’t be seeing her around for awhile. Thinking about it, how lucky is she that this didn’t happen last week when they were in Florida. Funny how things work out sometimes isn’t it. I’m sure she’ll be just fine but prayers will sure be appreciated. I’ll go up in the morning and be there while she’s in surgery. I just wouldn’t be able to relax at home waiting to hear something. I’m way to nervous to do that. I have to know what’s going on all the time. That’s just the way I am Over the weekend
